Onsrud F148HM — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Onsrud F148HM that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Onsrud or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Onsrud F148HM is the larger HM-Series hybrid mill, with twin tables of 60 in (1,524 mm) by 72 in (1,829 mm) inside a full enclosure. The standard spindle is 33 hp (24.6 kW) at 24,000 rpm and the Z-stroke is 40 in (1,016 mm).

Six-foot table depth is the only dimensional change from the F98HM, and it adds width to the machine: 333 in (8,459 mm). Length is 204 in (5,182 mm) and height 187 in (4,750 mm).

Onsrud's description of the series centres on stiffness. It cites large steel frame construction, wide bearing spacing and load-bearing capability, and says the machine holds tight tolerances. Combined with a 75 hp (55.9 kW), 18,000 rpm spindle option, that places the F148HM closer to a gantry machining center than to a router, while the 24,000 rpm standard spindle keeps it productive in aluminum, carbon fiber and phenolic.

A buyer should decide early between wet and dry. The enclosure and under-floor chip system suit flood or through-spindle coolant; cold air blast and MQL are the dry-side choices. Tooling is 24 positions, with a second changer optional, and a second spindle can serve the second table.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Twin 60 in (1,524 mm) by 72 in (1,829 mm) tables in a full enclosure
  • Frame with wide bearing spacing, built to hold tight tolerances
  • Under-floor chip management
  • Second spindle and second tool changer available

Limitations

  • Machine width of 333 in (8,459 mm)
  • The 75 hp (55.9 kW) spindle is limited to 18,000 rpm
  • Each table still measures 60 in (1,524 mm) in X

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big are the tables on the Onsrud F148HM?

Each of the two tables is 60 in (1,524 mm) by 72 in (1,829 mm). The machine is 204 in (5,182 mm) long, 333 in (8,459 mm) wide and 187 in (4,750 mm) high.

02 What spindle should I choose on the F148HM?

The standard 33 hp (24.6 kW) spindle runs to 24,000 rpm and suits high-speed machining of aluminum and composites. The 75 hp (55.9 kW) option runs to 18,000 rpm for higher-torque work.

03 How many tools does the F148HM carry?

24 as standard, twice the 12 of Onsrud's router lines. Larger capacity tool changers and a second tool changer are optional.

04 Is chip handling built in?

Yes. Onsrud describes an under-floor chip management system and a full enclosure that contains debris and isolates the operator from the machining zone and airborne particles.
