How much does the AWEA MCP-14060 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA MCP-14060 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
AWEA builds two machines around a 14,000 x 4,800 mm (551.2 x 189.0 in) table, and the MCP-14060 is the taller and wider-reaching one. Its X travel is 14,000 mm (551.2 in), Y is 6,400 mm (252.0 in) and Z is 1,400 mm (55.1 in), with 1,600 mm available.
The other machine is the LG-14050, which matches the table and the X stroke but stops at 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z. On the LG-14050 the spindle nose works 200 ~ 1,200 mm (7.9 ~ 47.2 in) above the table. The MCP-14060's nose range is 800 ~ 2,200 mm (31.5 ~ 86.6 in). That is the real dividing line. The LG-14050 gets close to low plate and travels faster in X, at 20 m/min (787 ipm) against 10 m/min (394 ipm) here. The MCP-14060 clears tall fabrications and has the Y stroke to carry an attachment head past the table edge.
Both columns move, so they have to stay in step over the full length. AWEA's answer is dual linear scales on the X-axis combined with what it calls Simultaneous Control Technology, intended to prevent misalignment of the moving columns. The table publishes no accuracy figure for the result. A buyer with tolerance-critical parts should ask for one.
The moving column layout has a second consequence, floor area. AWEA states that moving column type machines use 40 % less space than fixed column type machines, since the table needs no room to travel. Spindle taper is BBT50, the motor is rated 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp), and the coolant tank holds 5,400 liter, far above the 1,900 liter of the LG-14050.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 6,400 mm (252.0 in) of Y on a 14,000 x 4,800 mm table; the LG-14050 gives 5,000 mm (196.9 in) on the same table
- Spindle nose up to 2,200 mm (86.6 in) above the table, against 1,200 mm (47.2 in) on the LG-14050
- Dual linear scales on the X-axis keep the two moving columns aligned
- Maker states 40 % less space than a fixed column type machine
- 5,400 liter coolant tank, against 1,900 liter on the LG-14050
Limitations
- X rapid of 10 m/min (394 ipm) is half the 20 m/min (787 ipm) of the LG-14050
- Spindle nose comes no closer than 800 mm (31.5 in) to the table, or 600 mm with the Z option
- No positioning accuracy or repeatability in the table, where the LG-14050 lists P = 0.060 mm
- No table load figure is published for this model

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Both have 14,000 mm (551.2 in) of X travel and a 14,000 x 4,800 mm (551.2 x 189.0 in) table. The MCP-14060 has 6,400 mm (252.0 in) of Y, 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of Z and a BBT50 spindle. The LG-14050 has 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of Y, 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z, a CAT50 (7 / 24) taper and an X rapid of 20 m/min (787 ipm).
02
AWEA states that the X-axis features dual linear scales which, combined with its Simultaneous Control Technology, prevent misalignment of the moving columns. Each side of the bridge is measured directly on its own scale. No accuracy value is given in the MCP-14060 table.
03
The maker's statement is that moving column type machines use 40 % less space than fixed column type machines. The reason is that the table of a fixed column machine travels and needs clear floor at both ends, while here the 14,000 x 4,800 mm (551.2 x 189.0 in) table stays put and only the columns move.
04
The distance from spindle nose to table top is 800 ~ 2,200 mm (31.5 ~ 86.6 in) with the standard 1,400 mm (55.1 in) Z travel. The upper figure is what a tall part and its tooling have to fit under. With the 1,600 mm Z option the range becomes 600 ~ 2,200 mm.
