How much does the AWEA VP-1612HS cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA VP-1612HS that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA VP-1612HS is the shortest machine in the VP-HS high speed bridge series: 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of X travel, 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Y and 760 mm (29.9 in) of Z under a direct-driven 10,000 rpm spindle with a BBT50 taper. Its table measures 1,600 x 1,100 mm (63.0 x 43.3 in) and carries 3,000 kg (6,614 lb).
Why pick a bridge at this size instead of a large C-frame vertical? The answer is the Y axis. The head crosses a fixed beam between columns set 1,300 mm (51.2 in) apart, so spindle overhang stays the same wherever it sits over the table. AWEA adds a stepped offset layout for the Y-axis guide ways, which it says shortens the distance between the spindle center and the cross beam. For a mold base that fills the table, that constancy counts for more than raw travel.
Row for row, the frame matches the gear-spindle VP-1612 in travels, table, load and its 14,000 kg (30,864 lb) weight. The head is what changes. The VP-1612 lists a gear spindle of 6,000 rpm with an 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) motor; the HS version runs to 10,000 rpm on 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp). AWEA describes the Z axis as needing no counter balance, thanks to the servo motor and ball screw fitted, and roller type linear guide ways carry X, Y and Z.
Being the short model pays off in motion. X rapid is 24 m/min (945 ipm), equal to Y, and Z moves at 20 m/min (787 ipm); the two longest machines of the series slow their X axis considerably. Cutting feed reaches 12 m/min (472 ipm). Positioning by the VDI method is listed as P ≤ 0.02 mm over full travel, with repeatability of Ps ≤ 0.015 mm.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Direct-driven 10,000 rpm spindle on a 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor, where the VP-1612 lists 6,000 rpm and 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp)
- Full 24 m/min (945 ipm) rapid on both X and Y, the fastest X figure in the VP-HS series
- BBT dual contact spindle, described by AWEA as seating the holder on both taper and face
- 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Y travel on a fixed cross beam, with 1,300 mm (51.2 in) between the columns
- Lightest VP-HS machine at 14,000 kg (30,864 lb), which eases foundation planning
Limitations
- X travel stops at 1,600 mm (63.0 in); the VP-2012HS reaches 2,000 mm (78.7 in) and carries 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) on the same cross section
- Table load of 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) is the lowest in the series
- BBT40 taper and the built-in motorized spindles are options, not part of the base machine
- Tools are limited to 15 kg (33 lb) and 350 mm (13.8 in) in length
- The specification table lists no coolant tank capacity

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The castings share their dimensions: both list 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of X, a 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) table load and 14,000 kg (30,864 lb) of machine weight. The spindle differs. The VP-1612 has a gear spindle of 6,000 rpm with an 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) motor and a BT50 taper as standard. The VP-1612HS has a direct-driven 10,000 rpm spindle, 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) and BBT50.
02
AWEA states that the modular design accepts either direct-driven or built-in motorized spindles. The maker gives a range of 8,000 ~ 15,000 rpm for direct-driven units and 12,000 ~ 20,000 rpm for built-in ones. The specification table lists the 10,000 rpm direct-driven spindle with BBT50 and names BBT40 as the optional taper.
03
There is a little room. The table is 1,100 mm (43.3 in) wide and the columns stand 1,300 mm (51.2 in) apart, so a plate or fixture can overhang the table edges slightly before it meets the uprights. Y travel of 1,200 mm (47.2 in) covers the full table width.
04
The table lists 32 T as standard with 24 or 40 T as options. A tool may be up to Ø125 mm (Ø4.9 in) in diameter, or Ø229 mm (Ø9.0 in) by the second figure the maker prints, up to 350 mm (13.8 in) long and up to 15 kg (33 lb). AWEA describes the changer as an arm type unit inside a full enclosure.
05
Electrical supply is AC 220 ± 10 %, 60 / 50 Hz, rated at 40 kVA. Compressed air must be held at 5 ~ 7 kg/cm². The lubrication tank holds 4.5 liter. Plan the foundation and rigging for 14,000 kg (30,864 lb) of machine before any workpiece is loaded.
