Overview

The largest TMV, the Anger Machining TMV 1600A carries 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) on a 1,700x850 mm table and travels 1,600 mm (63.0 in) in X, 800 mm (31.5 in) in Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) in Z.

It is also the only model in the series with a footnote of its own: an additional spindle with very high torque, 536/731 Nm, is available for this machine. The standard line in the table is already a heavy-cutting spindle, BBT50 at 3,500 rpm with 70-280/95-382 Nm and 11/15 kW (S1/S6-60%), and 6,000 rpm in brackets.

Weight and stiffness are bought with speed. The machine weighs 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), rapids are 15/15/12 m/min, acceleration is 1.6/1.8/1.7 m/s² and chip-to-chip time is 9.7 s, the slowest figures in the TMV table. Cycle times on this machine are set by metal removal, so it belongs with large steel and cast components where cuts are long.

The magazine starts at 32 tools, with 40 as the bracketed version, and each tool can weigh 15 kg. The table has six T-slots 18 mm wide. Connected power is 40 kVA, the highest of the series, and both Siemens and Fanuc controls are listed, with 3x220 V noted for Fanuc. Compared with the TMV 1350A, the gain is 2,000 kg of table load against 1,300 kg and a longer, deeper table.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Table load of 2,000 kg (4,409 lb), the highest in the TMV series
  • Additional very-high-torque spindle with 536/731 Nm available for this model
  • Travels of 1,600 mm, 800 mm and 700 mm with a 1,700x850 mm table
  • Standard magazine of 32 tools, 40 in the bracketed version
  • Machine weight of 15,000 kg on a cast-iron frame

Limitations

  • Rapids of 15/15/12 m/min are the lowest in the series
  • Chip-to-chip time of 9.7 s at 1,800 rpm
  • Standard spindle speed is 3,500 rpm, which rules out small-tool finishing at proper surface speed
  • Needs 40 kVA of connected power and 4,250/3,440/3,290 mm (L/W/H) of space

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the high-torque spindle option on the TMV 1600A?

A footnote to the spindle table states that an additional spindle with very high torque, 536/731 Nm, is available for this model. The datasheet gives no speed or power for it. The standard spindle line reads 3,500 rpm, 11/15 kW and 70-280/95-382 Nm.

02 How large and heavy a part can it take?

Up to 1,700/850/700 mm and 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) on a 1,700x850 mm table with six 18 mm T-slots. Travels are 1,600 mm in X, 800 mm in Y and 700 mm in Z.

03 How fast is the TMV 1600A?

It is the slowest of the series by the table: 15/15/12 m/min maximum speed, 1.6/1.8/1.7 m/s² acceleration and 9.7 s chip to chip. The TMV 1350A lists 20/20/15 m/min and 8.4 s.

04 Which tool interface does it use?

BBT50, with HSK100 shown in brackets. The magazine holds 32 tools or 40 tools, and a tool may be 300 mm long and 15 kg. The diameter row reads 110 (200) mm.

05 What supply does it need?

The operating voltage is 3x380 V, or 3x220 V with a Fanuc control, and the total connected power is 40 kVA. The machine weighs 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), so check floor loading as well as crane capacity for installation.
