Hermle C 650

The Hermle C 650 is the largest machine in Hermle's performance line, built for shops that need serious 5-axis capability on big parts without sacrificing the accuracy Hermle is known for. With X/Y/Z travels of 1,050 x 900 x 600 mm, this machine handles workpieces up to 2,000 kg on a 900 mm diameter trunnion table. The modified gantry architecture keeps all linear axes in the spindle carrier while the workpiece only moves in A and C rotary axes, which is key to maintaining dynamic accuracy on parts this size.

The C 650 ships with an 18,000 rpm HSK-A63 spindle as standard, delivering 29 kW of continuous power for heavy cuts in steel and titanium. High-speed spindle options go up to 42,000 rpm for aluminum aerospace work. The 60-position tool magazine is expandable to 156 tools, and chip-to-chip time runs about 4.5 seconds. Rapid traverse hits 35 m/min on all linear axes. The mineral-cast base — Hermle's signature — weighs in at a total machine weight of around 16,500 kg.

Positioning accuracy sits at +/- 0.005 mm with repeatability of +/- 0.003 mm. Control options include Heidenhain TNC 640 or Siemens Sinumerik 840D sl.
