How much does the Akira Seiki SL25 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Akira Seiki SL25 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Akira Seiki SL25 is an 8" chuck lathe with a 530 mm (20.9 in) swing, a maximum cutting diameter of 350 mm (13.8 in) and a maximum cutting length of 400 mm (15.7 in). It is the first SL model with the A2-6 spindle nose and the 12-station turret used on the larger machines.
The spindle is geared toward torque more than speed. Peak torque is 202 Nm (149 lb-ft) at a top speed of 5,000 rpm, with 17 HP (12.7 kW) of peak power; the smaller SL20 has more power, 24 HP (17.9 kW), but only 137 Nm (101 lb-ft). For an 8" chuck part in steel, the SL25 figures are the more useful ones. The draw tube bore is 52 mm (2 in).
Turret indexing is fast at 0.35 s. OD tools are 20 mm (0.79 in) and boring bars 32 mm (1.26 in). The tailstock is an option on this model: 410 mm (16.1 in) of travel, a 100 mm (3.9 in) quill and an MT4 taper, all marked OPT in the table.
Several rows of the maker's SL25 column are not shown on this page because their metric and inch figures disagree: X travel, Z travel and machine weight. Dimensions are listed as 2,450 x 1,500 mm (97 x 59 in). Power requirement is 25 kVA, and the coolant tank holds 160 L (42 gal).
