Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Akira Seiki SL35MC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Akira Seiki SL35MC pairs the highest-torque belt-drive headstock in the SL line with a driven-tool turret. The A2-8 spindle gives 727 Nm (536 lb-ft) and 30 HP (22.4 kW) at peak, up to 3,500 rpm, and the application row lists X+Z+C.
A 10" chuck is standard and a 12" chuck optional, over a 78 mm (3.1 in) draw tube bore. Maximum cutting diameter is 360 mm (14.2 in) and cutting length 540 mm (21.26 in). Those are smaller than the two-axis SL35 figures, the usual effect of a live turret taking up room in the work area.
The turret itself is the same VDI40, 12-station unit as on the SL30MC, with ER32 live holders, a 4,000 rpm power-tool speed and a 0.52 s index. So the two machines mill alike. The difference is on the turning side, where the SL35MC has well over twice the spindle torque and a larger bore.
That makes this the mill-turn choice for heavier parts: gear blanks, large couplings, valve bodies in tough material, where the roughing is serious and the milled features are secondary. X travel is 235 + 5 mm (9.2 + 0.2 in), Z travel 600 mm (23.6 in). The tailstock has an MT4 quill and 570 mm (22.4 in) of travel. Weight is 6,100 kg (13,448 lb), footprint 3,050 x 1,844 mm (120 x 73 in), supply 30 kVA.
