Overview
Everything the UT-300 platform offers on a short bed is combined in the Accuway UT-300SY: a main spindle up to A2-11, an A2-5 second spindle, rotary tools at 4,000 rpm and ±50 mm (±2.0 in) of Y travel. A part can be turned, milled off-centre, transferred and finished on its back face without leaving the machine.
The frame is the Y-axis one, shared with the UT-300Y. Both are 3.5 x 2.1 x 2.4 m (137.8 x 82.7 x 94.5 in) and 6,500 kg (14,330 lb), with a 910 mm (35.8 in) swing over bed. Where the UT-300Y has a tailstock, this model has the second spindle on a B axis with 700 mm (27.6 in) of travel.
Turning diameter is 420 mm (16.5 in) at SP1 and 375 mm (14.8 in) at SP2. The first figure is lower than on the UT-300SM, which gives 480 mm (18.9 in) at SP1, so the Y axis is paid for with some diameter. Turning length is 540 mm (21.3 in), or 470 mm (18.5 in) in the A2-11 columns, over a 750 mm (29.5 in) Z travel.
Power is split three ways: 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) for the main spindle, 5.5/7.5 kW (7.4/10.1 hp) for the second spindle and 3.7/5.5 kW (5.0/7.4 hp) for rotary tools. The turret has 12 stations with BMT/VDI tooling. All of them must cover both sides of the part, so the number of live stations a job needs is worth counting before quoting a complex component.
