Overview
The Accuway UL-15 is a short, box-way lathe for 6 in and 8 in chuck work. Accuway's heading calls it a flat bed CNC turning center. It has 350 mm (13.8 in) of Z travel, 175 mm (6.9 in) of X travel and an 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) spindle motor in a machine that weighs 2,850 kg (6,283 lb).
That motor is the notable figure. It is the same rating Accuway fits to the larger UT-200, on a machine with about half the travel, so the UL-15 can take a full-depth cut on anything that fits its envelope. The envelope is a 280 mm (11.0 in) turning diameter and a 300 mm (11.8 in) turning length.
Three spindle columns are offered. A2-5 with a 6 in chuck passes a 44 mm (1.7 in) bar at 6,000 rpm. A2-6 with an 8 in chuck passes 52 mm (2.0 in) at 4,500 rpm or 65 mm (2.6 in) at 4,000 rpm. The turret follows the column, with 8, 10 or 12 BOT stations, and the square shank drops from 25 mm (1.0 in) to 20 mm (0.8 in) on the 12-station turret.
A tailstock is tabled, short like the machine: 200 mm (7.9 in) of body travel and an 80 mm (3.1 in) quill stroke, MT#4. Rapids are 20 m/min (787 in/min) in both axes. For production, the options include a bar feeder, a parts catcher and conveyor, a loader interface and a gantry loader system. The footprint is 2.2 x 1.5 x 1.7 m (86.6 x 59.1 x 66.9 in).
