How much does the Shibaura Machine TUE-150(S) cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Shibaura Machine TUE-150(S) that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Shibaura Machine TUE-150(S) is the middle size of the TUE wall-column vertical boring and turning mills. It swings 2,000 mm (78.74 in) over a 1,450 mm (57.08 in) diameter table, takes work up to 1,550 mm (61 in) high and carries 8,000 kg (17,600 lb). The (S) denotes the live spindle.
Part height is handled in two stages. The crossrail moves 1,000 mm (39.37 in) vertically, but it is not an NC axis: it is set to suit the job and then left. Cutting motion comes from the ram, which travels 900 mm (35.43 in) in Z. A tall part and a short one can therefore both be machined with the ram close to the crossrail, where it is stiffest, provided the crossrail is positioned first. What the arrangement does not give is a single programmed vertical stroke longer than 900 mm.
Swing is much larger than the table. A 2,000 mm part overhangs the 1,450 mm table all round, so jaws or fixture extensions have to be planned for it. In X the ram runs from -100 to 1,150 mm (-3.94 to 43.31 in), a short distance past centre, which is enough to face through the middle of a part.
The table runs at 2-400 rpm on an AC 45/37 kW (60/50 hp) drive, rated 30 min/continuous. The live spindle gives 15-3,000 rpm, AC 18.5/15 kW (24.6/20 hp) and 223 Nm (172 lbf-ft) through a 7/24 taper No. 50 nose, with the C axis at 720 deg/min in rapid and 360 deg/min in cutting feed. There are 18 tools, and the control is the FANUC 0i-TF.
The TUE-100(S) is the smaller alternative, with a 1,016 mm (40.0 in) table, 1,200 mm (47.24 in) swing and 2,000 kg (4,400 lb). The TUE-200(S) has a 2,000 mm (78.74 in) table, 2,400 mm (94.48 in) swing and 15,000 kg (33,070 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,000 mm (78.74 in) swing and 1,550 mm (61 in) cutting height on a 1,450 mm (57.08 in) table
- 8,000 kg (17,600 lb) table load, four times the 2,000 kg (4,400 lb) of the TUE-100(S)
- Crossrail with 1,000 mm (39.37 in) of vertical adjustment to match part height
- Live spindle: 15-3,000 rpm, AC 18.5/15 kW (24.6/20 hp), 223 Nm (172 lbf-ft)
- AC 45/37 kW (60/50 hp) table drive with a 2-400 rpm range
Limitations
- The crossrail is not an NC axis, so programmed vertical travel is the ram's 900 mm (35.43 in)
- The ram passes the table centre by only 100 mm (3.94 in)
- Table speed stops at 400 rpm, which limits surface speed on small diameters
- Cutting feed is limited to 2,000 mm/min (78.74 ipm) in X and Z

Frequently Asked Questions
01
No. The crossrail has 1,000 mm (39.37 in) of vertical travel but is listed as not an NC axis. It is positioned for the height of the part before cutting. The programmed vertical axis is Z, the ram, with 900 mm (35.43 in) of travel.
02
Maximum swing is 2,000 mm (78.74 in), maximum cutting height is 1,550 mm (61 in) and table load is 8,000 kg (17,600 lb). The table itself is 1,450 mm (57.08 in) in diameter, so a part at full swing extends beyond it and needs workholding to suit.
03
From -100 to 1,150 mm (-3.94 to 43.31 in). The negative figure is travel beyond the table centre, so the tool can cross the centreline when facing. It is a short overtravel, which means features on the far side of centre are reached by rotating the table, not by moving the ram across.
04
The live spindle runs 15-3,000 rpm with AC 18.5/15 kW (24.6/20 hp) and 223 Nm (172 lbf-ft), and takes 7/24 taper No. 50 tooling. The C axis moves at 720 deg/min in rapid and 360 deg/min in cutting feed. That covers drilling, tapping and milling on flanges and faces without moving the part to another machine.
05
When weight or table support is the limit. The TUE-200(S) has a 2,000 mm (78.74 in) table, 2,400 mm (94.48 in) swing and 15,000 kg (33,070 lb) of table load. The TUE-150(S) already swings 2,000 mm (78.74 in), but on a 1,450 mm (57.08 in) table rated for 8,000 kg (17,600 lb).
