Overview

The Zayer TEBAS G is a bridge type machine built around a rotary table that also travels. The table is Ø 2,200 mm (86.6 in), serves for both milling and turning, and moves 2,500 mm (98.4 in) along the longitudinal axis on a ball screw. Zayer states that the machine can mill, turn and grind.

The numbers are unlike the other TEBAS models. Power is 101 kW (135.4 hp) and the spindle head speed is 10,000 rpm, both without options, where the TEBAS lists 43 kW (57.7 hp) and 6,000 rpm. A TWIST head with electrospindle is the standard head, and the only other head entry is an optional elbow rotation. According to Zayer the rotary table is driven by a torque motor.

The bridge spans 3,400 mm (133.9 in) between columns and gives 4,100 mm (161.4 in) of cross travel, with 1,750 mm (68.9 in) of vertical travel on two ball screws. Rapid feed is up to 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) and working feed up to 25,000 mm/min (984 ipm). Every linear axis on this machine is a ball screw.

Two rows need explaining by Zayer before an order. Allowed weight on the table is printed as 20,000/12,000 kg (44,092/26,455 lb) and the maximum distance from table to spindle nose as 1,490 / 1,790 mm (58.7 / 70.5 in), in both cases without saying what each figure applies to. The longitudinal travel is printed with a split of -400/+2,100, which places most of the stroke on one side. The magazine starts at 20 tools, with 40, 60, 80 or 120 optional. A complete enclosure with ceiling is standard.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Milling, turning and grinding on one machine, per Zayer's description
  • Ø 2,200 mm (86.6 in) rotary table driven by a torque motor, with 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of travel
  • 101 kW (135.4 hp) and 10,000 rpm at the spindle head
  • TWIST head with electrospindle as the standard head
  • Complete enclosure with ceiling is standard

Limitations

  • One size only: 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of X, 4,100 mm (161.4 in) of Y and 1,750 mm (68.9 in) of Z, with no options listed
  • The standard magazine holds 20 tools, fewer than the 30 of the TEBAS
  • Zayer prints the table load as 20,000/12,000 kg (44,092/26,455 lb) without saying which case each figure covers
  • No table speed or turning torque is published

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What can the Zayer TEBAS G do that the TEBAS cannot?

Turn and grind. Zayer describes the TEBAS G as a multifunction machine that can mill, turn and grind, thanks to a milling and turning rotary table that is standard equipment. The TEBAS is a milling machine with a plain moving table.

02 How big is the TEBAS G rotary table?

Ø 2,200 mm (86.6 in). It travels 2,500 mm (98.4 in) on the longitudinal axis, driven by a ball screw, and rotates on a torque motor. Allowed weight on the table is printed as 20,000/12,000 kg (44,092/26,455 lb); Zayer's table does not label the two figures.

03 What spindle does the TEBAS G have?

The specification table lists 101 kW (135.4 hp) and a spindle head speed of 10,000 rpm. The standard head is the TWIST head with electrospindle. Elbow rotation is listed as an option.

04 What are the travels of the TEBAS G?

Longitudinal travel is 2,500 mm (98.4 in), cross travel 4,100 mm (161.4 in) and vertical travel 1,750 mm (68.9 in). The distance between columns is 3,400 mm (133.9 in). Positioning accuracy is 0.008/4,000 mm and repeatability 0.005/4,000 mm.

05 How many tools does the TEBAS G hold?

20 tools in the standard magazine. Magazines for 40, 60, 80 or 120 tools are optional. A chip conveyor and a complete enclosure with ceiling are standard.
