Overview

The You Ji HMC2000 has 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X-axis travel and a 2,200 x 1,800 mm (86.6 x 70.9 in) table rated for 10,000 kg (22,046 lb). At this scale a horizontal machining center overlaps with table-type boring mills, and the HMC2000 is best understood that way.

The proportions are wide and tall but not deep. Y-axis travel is 1,800 mm (70.9 in). Z-axis travel is 1,500 mm (59.1 in), the figure the HMC1200 and HMC1600 also have, with a W-axis of 700 mm (27.6 in) on top. So the machine reaches across a broad face, such as the side of a machine bed or a large frame, and bores into it, but it is not meant for parts that are very deep front to back. Deeper work is the HMC2500's territory, with 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Z.

Power comes from a 30/37 kW (40.2/49.6 hp) motor through a BT-50 spindle at 3,500 rpm.

A table of 2,200 x 1,800 mm (86.6 x 70.9 in) on a B axis needs swing room. When a long part is indexed, its ends sweep an arc that can exceed the table diagonal, and the Z stroke has to clear it. Lay out the longest workpiece turned corner-on to the spindle before committing. Installation is also a project: 7,000 x 6,280 mm (275.6 x 247.2 in) of floor and 4,660 mm (183.5 in) of height.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 3,000 mm (118.1 in) X-axis travel and 1,800 mm (70.9 in) Y-axis travel
  • 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) table load
  • 2,200 x 1,800 mm (86.6 x 70.9 in) table
  • 30/37 kW (40.2/49.6 hp) BT-50 spindle with a 700 mm (27.6 in) W-axis

Limitations

  • Z-axis travel of 1,500 mm (59.1 in) is no more than on the HMC1200
  • Spindle speed limited to 3,500 rpm
  • Needs 7,000 x 6,280 mm (275.6 x 247.2 in) of floor and 4,660 mm (183.5 in) of height
  • The catalogue gives no boring spindle diameter for the W-axis

Best For

Wide machine beds, frames and bases faced and bored from the side Parts up to 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) needing multi-side access on a rotary table Large-format boring and milling where a floor-type machine is not required

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size workpiece suits the HMC2000?

The table is 2,200 x 1,800 mm (86.6 x 70.9 in) with a 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) maximum load. Travels are X 3,000 mm (118.1 in), Y 1,800 mm (70.9 in) and Z 1,500 mm (59.1 in), with 700 mm (27.6 in) of W.

02 What spindle power and speed does it have?

A 30/37 kW (40.2/49.6 hp) spindle motor, 3,500 rpm and a BT-50 taper. The same spindle data is listed for the HMC1600 and HMC2500.

03 How does the HMC2000 compare with the HMC2500?

The HMC2500 is larger in every direction but Y: X 3,400 mm (133.9 in), Z 2,000 mm (78.7 in), a 2,600 x 2,200 mm (102.4 x 86.6 in) table and 15,000 kg (33,069 lb). Both have 1,800 mm (70.9 in) of Y-axis travel.

04 What should be checked before installation?

Floor space is 7,000 x 6,280 mm (275.6 x 247.2 in) and machine height 4,660 mm (183.5 in). The catalogue does not give machine weight or foundation requirements, so request the foundation drawing early.
