Overview

Add a ram to the Speedmat and one more axis appears in the table. On the PAMA Speedmat RAM the column moves on a V axis of 1,500 - 4,000 mm, and Z becomes the travel of a 430 x 430 mm ram, 1,200 / 1,600 mm. The headstock no longer has to bring the whole column forward to reach into a part.

That is the practical difference from the plain Speedmat. A ram reaches inside deep housings and between flanges where a headstock face cannot go, and with a boring bar inside the ram the reach extends again by the W stroke. PAMA guides the ram on hydrostatic pads and measures its thermal elongation in real time.

The ram can carry one of three units. The W headstock has a geared boring spindle of 130 - 160 mm with 800 mm (31.5 in) of W, 41 - 82 kW and 1,389 - 3,451 Nm at 3,000 - 4,000 rpm. The WD headstock is a single Direct Drive bar: 120 mm (4.7 in), 600 mm (23.6 in) of W, 66 kW (88.5 hp), 1,175 Nm (867 lb-ft), 5,000 rpm. The MD headstock, without bar, gives 66 - 90 kW and 822 - 1,175 Nm at 6,000 rpm.

Table figures are those of the Speedmat. Swing is 2,200 - 5,000 mm, milling tables run 1,250 x 1,250 - 3,000 x 3,000 mm with up to 50,000 kg, and turning tables Ø1,250 - Ø3,500 mm with up to 32,000 kg at up to 300 rpm. X travel is 2,200 - 5,000 mm and Y 1,750 - 4,000 mm.

Rapid feed is up to 50,000 mm/min on X, Y, Z and V. As on the other PAMA centers, attachment heads, pallet systems and tool and head changers are optional, and the CNC is Siemens, Heidenhain or Fanuc.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the Speedmat RAM and the Speedmat?

The Speedmat RAM has a ram in the headstock. Its Z axis is the ram stroke, 1,200 / 1,600 mm, and the column travel becomes a separate V axis of 1,500 - 4,000 mm. On the Speedmat, Z is the column travel and there is no ram. Table sizes and loads are the same on both.

02 Which spindles are available on the Speedmat RAM?

W headstock: boring spindle 130 - 160 mm, 2 ranges, 41 - 82 kW, 1,389 - 3,451 Nm, 3,000 - 4,000 rpm. WD headstock: 120 mm (4.7 in) Direct Drive bar, 66 kW (88.5 hp), 1,175 Nm (867 lb-ft), 5,000 rpm. MD headstock: Direct Drive, 66 - 90 kW, 822 - 1,175 Nm, 6,000 rpm.

03 How far can the Speedmat RAM reach into a part?

Ram travel on Z is 1,200 / 1,600 mm. With the W headstock the boring spindle adds 800 mm (31.5 in) of W, and with the WD headstock 600 mm (23.6 in). Column travel on V, 1,500 - 4,000 mm, positions the headstock before the ram extends.

04 What table options does the Speedmat RAM have?

Milling tables or pallets from 1,250 x 1,250 to 3,000 x 3,000 mm with a load capacity up to 50,000 kg and a B axis rapid feed up to 6 rpm. Turning tables of Ø1,250 - Ø3,500 mm take up to 32,000 kg and turn at up to 300 rpm.
