Price estimate
We do not have a price for the YCM FP66A that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The YCM FP66A is a small double-column machining center for die and mold work, with a 16,000 rpm BBT40 spindle rated 37 kW (50 hp). Travels are 660 mm (25.98 in) in X, 510 mm (20.08 in) in Y and 400 mm (15.75 in) in Z, under a bridge with 960 mm (37.8 in) between the columns.
A bridge frame on a machine this small is a deliberate choice. The head hangs between two columns instead of off one, so it has less overhang and heats symmetrically; YCM stresses the symmetry of the base, column and headstock castings. The table only moves in one direction and stays fully under the load. For a mold maker the result is a machine that keeps its geometry over a finishing program that runs all day.
The feed system is built for small, exact moves: encoders of 4 million pulses per revolution on all axes, enlarged roller linear guides and high-load ball screws. Rapids are a modest 20 m/min (787 ipm), which is beside the point in this kind of work.
YCM's isolated direct drive spindle has oil cooling, micro oil-air lubrication, a floating cylinder that keeps tool-release force off the bearings and a constant preload design. The options column lists 20,000 and 30,000 rpm spindles with 22 or 11 kW (30 or 15 hp), the fastest on a BBT30 taper. The table is 800 x 510 mm (31.5 x 20.08 in) for 500 kg (1,102 lb), the magazine holds 24 tools or 30, and the machine weighs 8,000 kg (17,637 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Double-column frame with 960 mm (37.8 in) between columns on a 660 mm (25.98 in) machine
- 16,000 rpm spindle with 37 kW (50 hp) as standard
- Optional 20,000 and 30,000 rpm spindles
- 4 million-pulse/rev encoders on all axes
- Oil-cooled spindle with micro oil-air lubrication
Limitations
- Z travel is 400 mm (15.75 in), limiting deep cavities and tall blocks
- Table load is 500 kg (1,102 lb)
- Rapids are 20 m/min (787 ipm)
- The faster optional spindles drop to 22 or 11 kW (30 or 15 hp)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
For stiffness and thermal symmetry. YCM says the symmetry design in the castings of base, column and headstock diminishes thermal deformation and ensures accuracy. The distance between the columns is 960 mm (37.8 in).
02
Standard is a BBT40 spindle at 16,000 rpm with 37 kW (50 hp). The options are 20,000 and 30,000 rpm with 22 and 11 kW (30 and 15 hp), with BBT40 or BBT30 tapers. All have automatic oil cooling and micro oil-air lubrication.
03
Travels are 660 mm (25.98 in) in X, 510 mm (20.08 in) in Y and 400 mm (15.75 in) in Z. The table is 800 x 510 mm (31.5 x 20.08 in), rated for 500 kg (1,102 lb), and spindle nose to table is 150~550 mm (5.91~21.65 in).

The NFP66A shares the travels, table and 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) weight but has a built-in motorized spindle with an HSK-A63 taper at 24,000 rpm, and a 40,000 rpm option. The FP66A uses a BBT40 isolated direct drive spindle at 16,000 rpm.
