How much does the YCM DCV3018A-5AX cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the YCM DCV3018A-5AX that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Middle model of YCM's high-speed bridge-type 5-axis machines, the DCV3018A-5AX has 3,200 mm of X travel over a 3,000 x 1,500 mm table rated for 10,000 kg. The spindle head carries both rotary axes, B and C, and an 18,000 rpm spindle with an HSK A63 taper.
Seventy kilowatts at 18,000 rpm is a specification written for aluminium. In aerospace structural work most of a billet ends up as chips, and the limit on output is how fast the spindle can remove metal while the head follows a five-axis path. The table lists 70 kW (94 HP), and YCM's feature text confirms a 70 kW motor driving up to 18,000 rpm. Cutting feed goes to 20,000 mm/min on all three linear axes.
Three metres of table suits wing ribs, spars, frames and floor beams, and also long molds and trimming fixtures. The part lies flat and still while the head tilts ±110° in B and rotates ±360° in C. With direct drive motors in both rotary axes there is no gearing to wear or to lose position, and Heidenhain encoders close the loop.
The X axis is gearbox driven and rapids at 20 m/min, slightly below the 24 m/min of the Y axis; Z rapids at 20 m/min. All three run on roller type linear guideways. Y travel is 2,400 mm and Z travel 762 mm, optionally 1,016 mm. Tools weigh up to 6 kg, and the magazine takes 40, 60 or 120. The machine weighs 32,000 kg.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 70 kW (94 HP) spindle at 18,000 rpm for high-volume aluminium cutting
- 3,000 x 1,500 mm fixed table rated for 10,000 kg
- Direct drive B and C axes with Heidenhain encoders
- Cutting feed up to 20,000 mm/min on X, Y and Z
- Magazine options of 60 and 120 tools
Limitations
- Tool weight is limited to 6 kg by the HSK A63 magazine
- Standard Z travel is 762 mm
- X rapid of 20 m/min is lower than the Y rapid
- Not laid out for heavy steel roughing; the DCV B-series 5-axis models use an HSK A100 spindle

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Its spindle: 18,000 rpm with a 70 kW (94 HP) motor on an HSK A63 taper, combined with cutting feed up to 20,000 mm/min and a two-axis head on direct drive motors. Those figures favour high metal removal in light alloys.
02
X travel is 3,200 mm, Y travel 2,400 mm and Z travel 762 mm, with 1,016 mm as an option. The B axis covers ±110° and the C axis ±360°.
03
10,000 kg; YCM's feature list gives it as 10 tons maximum table machining loading. The table is 3,000 x 1,500 mm with T-slots listed as 8 x 22 x 180 mm, and is ground before assembly.
04
Rapid traverse is listed as 20/24/20 m/min for X, Y and Z. The X axis is gearbox driven, and Y and Z have direct driven motors. All three use roller type linear guideways.
