Overview
The YCM DCV2018A-5AX is a double-column 5-axis machining center with a two-axis head. The B and C axes are in the spindle head, driven by direct drive motors, and the spindle is a built-in motorized unit that reaches 18,000 rpm on a 70 kW (94 HP) motor with an HSK A63 taper.
Putting both rotary axes in the head leaves the table free. It stays a plain 2,000 x 1,500 mm surface that carries 8,000 kg, and the workpiece never rotates or tilts. That is the layout for large, heavy parts that need five-axis access: aluminium structural components, composite lay-up tools, large molds with deep side walls, models and patterns. B swings ±110° and C turns ±360°, both at up to 100 rpm.
The head is built for accuracy as well as speed. The C axis runs in three roller bearings and the B axis in a cross roller bearing, a Heidenhain encoder is standard, clamping is pneumatic, and the B axis is held against dropping if the power fails.
Linear travels are 2,200 mm in X and 2,400 mm in Y, with 762 mm in Z or 1,016 mm as an option. The frame has one-piece columns 1,800 mm apart on a one-piece base, and roller type linear guideways on all three axes. X is gearbox driven; Y and Z are direct driven. Rapids are 24 m/min in X and Y and 20 m/min in Z, with cutting feed to 20,000 mm/min. The magazine holds 40 tools, or 60 or 120. Machine weight is 28,000 kg.
