Overview

The YCM DCV4018A-5AX is the four-metre version of YCM's high-speed bridge-type 5-axis machine. X travel is 4,200 mm, the fixed table measures 4,000 x 1,500 mm and takes 12,000 kg, and the two-axis head carries an 18,000 rpm HSK A63 spindle.

Length is its reason for existing. Long aerospace parts such as spars, stringers and wing skins, rail and bus body sections, boat hull molds and long trim fixtures need five-axis reach along four metres without a second setup. Because the rotary axes are in the head, a twelve-tonne mold on the table is no obstacle to tilting the tool.

The longer X axis is the one figure that gives ground. X rapid is 15 m/min and X cutting feed 1~15,000 mm/min, while Y and Z keep 24 and 20 m/min in rapid and 1~20,000 mm/min in feed. On a long part most of the fast contouring happens across Y and around the head axes, so the effect on cycle time is smaller than the numbers suggest.

Head and spindle are shared with the shorter models. B swings ±110° and C rotates ±360°, on direct drive motors with a roller bearing arrangement and pneumatic clamping.
