Overview

Tall work is an option on the Vision Wide SM-4122. For the SM-xx22 machines Vision Wide lists a column heightened by 200 / 300 / 400 / 500 mm, four steps where the smaller SM frame has one, and Z axis travel 1,000 mm in place of the standard 800 mm.

The base machine has 4,100 mm (161.4 in) of X travel, 2,200 mm (86.6 in) of Y and a 4,300×2,100 mm (169.3×82.7 in) table rated for 16,000 kg (35,273 lb).

Why offer so many column heights? Because the parts this size of machine sees vary more in height than in plan. A stamping die might stand knee-high and a welded frame twice that, and both have to pass under the beam with a tool in the spindle. A column that is too high costs stiffness on every job; one that is too low rules out a job altogether. Choosing the step that just clears the tallest regular part is the better compromise, and the maker's layout drawings give the resulting clearances, which the specification table does not.

Power is 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) at 6,000 rpm with the 2-step gear spindle. The tool magazine row reads 24 / 32 / 40 pcs.
