Overview
The Vision Wide SM-2113 has almost the same table as the SE-2112 and a very different purpose. Both are double-column machines with roughly 2,100 mm of X travel; the SM-2113's table is 2,300×1,100 mm (90.6×43.3 in) and the SE-2112's is 2,300x1,100 mm (90.6x43.3 in).
The split is at the spindle. The SE-2112 runs 15,000 rpm. The SM-2113 runs 6,000 rpm through a 2-step gearbox, on the same 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp) of motor power. Equal power at a lower speed means more torque at the tool, and Vision Wide describes the SM structure as designed for high-torque high-speed cutting applications. So one machine finishes molds and cuts aluminum, and the other roughs mold bases, machines steel plate and drills deep holes.
X travel is 2,100 mm (82.7 in), Y travel 1,300 mm (51.2 in), and the table load 8,000 kg (17,637 lb). Z is 800 mm, or 1,000 mm as an option.
A shop that does both kinds of work on similar-size parts could run the two side by side with shared fixtures. For a single machine, the optional 12,000 rpm built-in or 15,000 rpm direct driven spindle moves the SM toward the finishing side, at the expense of the geared drive.
