Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Vision Wide MF-5000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Temperature control is built into the Vision Wide MF-5000 to a degree unusual for a heavy milling machine. Vision Wide lists separated oil coolers for the spindle and for the three axes' ball screws, with the temperature set -2 °C lower than room temperature, to control heat deformation while machining.
The arrangement has two parts. The spindle and its gearbox have their own cooler, so the heat of a long roughing cut is carried off before it lengthens the spindle. The three ball screws have a separate, independent cooling device, which the maker says restrains their axial heat extension. Holding the oil just below ambient keeps those parts from drifting upward with the shop through the day.
On this model the benefit is largest, because the X screw is the longest in the series. X travel is 5,200 mm (204.7 in). The table is 5,200x2,050 mm (204.7x80.7 in) and carries 15,000 kg (33,069 lb). Y travel is 2,300 mm (90.6 in).
A box way axis makes more heat than a rolling one, so cooling the screws is not a luxury here. Rapids are 10 m/min in X and 12 m/min in Y and Z. The spindle is a 4,000 rpm two-step gear type with 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp).
