How much does the TRAK TMC12 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the TRAK TMC12 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The TRAK TMC12 is the point in the TMC line where the machine itself gets bigger, not just longer: 50 x 27 x 25 in (1,270 x 686 x 635 mm) of travel, a 51.18 x 23.62 in (1,300 x 600 mm) table and a 40 Taper spindle rated 22.5 hp (16.8 kW) peak / 15 hp (11.2 kW) continuous, under the ProtoTRAK RMX CNC.
Compare the heavier-duty figures with the TMC10 and nearly all of them move. Spindle nose diameter is 3.75 in (95 mm) where the TMC10 has 3 in (76 mm). Tool clamping force is 2,200 lbs (998 kg) at 90 psi where the TMC10 has 1,500 lbs (680 kg). Net weight is 14,300 lbs (6,486 kg) where the TMC10 weighs 9,900 lbs (4,491 kg). The extra iron sits behind a spindle with half as much peak power again.
The envelope grows in the directions the smaller TMCs lack. Y travel of 27 in (686 mm) exceeds the 23.62 in table depth, so the spindle can reach past both edges of the table. Z is 25 in (635 mm), and the nose-to-table distance spans 2.25 in (57 mm) to 28.75 in (730 mm), which leaves space for a tall fixture or a rotary setup with long tools. The table carries 2,200 lbs (998 kg).
What stays the same is the tool changer and the speed. There are 16 pockets in a carousel, tools are limited to 3.14 in (80 mm) in diameter and 15 lbs (7 kg) including holder, and the spindle runs 50 - 8,000 rpm with 12,000 rpm optional.
The building has to suit it. Height is 105 in (2,667 mm) minimum and 120.5 in (3,061 mm) with the head fully up. The supply is 208V three-phase at 77.5 A for the standard spindle, and air is listed as 3.0 CFM, 25 SCFM at 90 psi.

- Table load of 2,200 lbs (998 kg)
- 71 gal (269 L) coolant tank
Limitations
- Still a 16-tool carousel with a 3.14 in (80 mm) maximum tool diameter; the VMC12si carries 30 tools
- Needs 77.5 A at 208V with the standard spindle
- 120.5 in (3,061 mm) tall with the head fully up

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels go from 40.75 x 20 x 20 in on the TMC10 to 50 x 27 x 25 in (1,270 x 686 x 635 mm). Peak spindle power goes from 15 hp (11.2 kW) on the TMC10 to 22.5 hp (16.8 kW), table load from 1,760 lbs (798 kg) on the TMC10 to 2,200 lbs (998 kg), and net weight from 9,900 lbs on the TMC10 to 14,300 lbs (6,486 kg).
02
The distance from spindle nose to table is 2.25 in (57 mm) at minimum and 28.75 in (730 mm) at maximum, with 25 in (635 mm) of Z travel. Subtract the height of the fixture and the tool's gauge length to find what is left for the part.
03
208V three-phase, with 200-240V acceptable, at 77.5 A for the standard spindle. A 480V transformer is optional. TRAK's table gives no separate current for the 12,000 rpm option, so confirm it when quoting.
04
Height is 105 in (2,667 mm) minimum and 120.5 in (3,061 mm) with the head fully up. The footprint is 133.86 x 144.76 in (3,400 x 3,677 mm), width by length, with coolant tank, auger and pendant rotated.
