SYIL X9 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the SYIL X9 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from SYIL or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

BT40 tooling starts with the SYIL X9. It is a vertical machining center with 760 mm (29.9 in) of X travel and 500 mm (19.7 in) in both Y and Z, an 860 × 500 mm (33.9 × 19.7 in) table rated for 500 kg (1,102 lb) and a 24-tool arm-type changer. In SYIL's X series it is the first model sized and tooled for steel work as a matter of course.

The standard spindle runs to 10,000 rpm, with 12,000 rpm listed as an option, and SYIL describes the drive as Belt/Direct type. Spindle motor output is given as 11/17 kW (14.8/22.8 hp). If the faster spindle matters to your work, ask which drive it comes with, because the table does not spell out the pairing.

How big a cutter can it swing? Up to 125 mm (4.9 in) in diameter, 240 mm (9.4 in) long and 7 kg (15 lb), which covers the face mills and long drills a 40-taper shop normally stocks. Tool-to-tool time is 2 s. Coolant through the spindle at 20 bar is on the options list, as is a servo 4th-axis rotary table in 255 mm size with a tailstock.

The Y travel equals the table depth, so the whole 500 mm of table is reachable without overhang, and the spindle nose can be set between 100 and 600 mm above the table. Five T-slots at 100 mm spacing take standard 18 mm clamping hardware.

Like the other X machines, the X9 has a Schneeberger mineral casting frame, THK ball screws and linear guides and the Siemens SINUMERIK 828D as standard. The footprint is 1,850 × 2,245 × 2,800 mm (72.8 × 88.4 × 110.2 in) with coolant tank and controller; note the 2,800 mm height when checking door and ceiling clearances. SYIL's page shows two different weights for this model, so get the figure confirmed before arranging rigging.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • BT40 spindle with 11/17 kW (14.8/22.8 hp) motor output and 10,000 rpm as standard
  • 500 mm (19.7 in) of Y travel matches the 500 mm table depth
  • Table rated for 500 kg (1,102 lb), against 150 kg (331 lb) on the SYIL X7
  • 24-tool arm-type changer taking tools up to 125 mm (4.9 in) in diameter and 7 kg (15 lb)
  • Coolant through spindle at 20 bar and a 255 mm servo rotary table are available as options
  • Siemens SINUMERIK 828D fitted as standard

Limitations

  • The 12,000 rpm spindle is an option; the standard speed is 10,000 rpm
  • Overall height of 2,800 mm needs checking against doors and cranes
  • Tool-to-tool time of 2 s is slower than the 1.5 s of the SYIL X7
  • Coolant through spindle, probe, tool setter and 4th axis all cost extra
  • SYIL's own page gives two different machine weights for this model

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the work envelope of the SYIL X9?

X travel is 760 mm (29.9 in), Y is 500 mm (19.7 in) and Z is 500 mm (19.7 in). The table is 860 × 500 mm (33.9 × 19.7 in) with a 500 kg (1,102 lb) load rating, and the distance from spindle nose to table top can be set anywhere from 100 to 600 mm.

02 What spindle options does the X9 have?

The spindle takes BT40 holders and runs to 10,000 rpm as standard; SYIL lists 12,000 rpm as optional. The drive is described as Belt/Direct type and the spindle motor output as 11/17 kW (14.8/22.8 hp). Coolant through the spindle (CTS) at 20 bar is a separate option.

03 How many tools does the X9 hold and how large can they be?

The arm-type changer has 24 positions for BT40 tools. A tool may be up to 125 mm (4.9 in) in diameter, 240 mm (9.4 in) long and 7 kg (15 lb). SYIL quotes 2 s tool to tool.

04 How does the X9 compare with the SYIL X11?

Y and Z are the same on both. The SYIL X11 extends X travel to 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and has a 1,050 × 550 mm (41.3 × 21.7 in) table rated for 600 kg (1,323 lb), where the X9 has 760 mm (29.9 in) of X and carries 500 kg (1,102 lb). Both use a 24-tool BT40 arm changer and the same 11/17 kW spindle motor rating.

05 What control and structure does the X9 use?

The control is the Siemens SINUMERIK 828D, standard on the machine. SYIL names a Schneeberger mineral casting for the machine frame and THK as the supplier of the ball screws and linear guides. Axis drive motors are listed at 3.9/3.9/5.9 kW (X, Y, Z).
