How much does the SYIL X5 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SYIL X5 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SYIL X5 is the smallest vertical machining center in SYIL's X series: 300 mm (11.8 in) of X travel, 260 mm (10.2 in) of Y and 300 mm (11.8 in) of Z over a 560 × 260 mm (22.0 × 10.2 in) table. What sets it apart from the rest of the range is the spindle. It is a direct-drive BT30 unit that runs to 20,000 rpm, the highest speed SYIL lists for any X machine.
SYIL gives the spindle motor output as 4.8 kW (6.4 hp). That is a small motor, and together with the speed it tells you what the machine is for: small cutters in aluminium, brass and plastics, engraving and fine finishing passes, not heavy roughing in steel. The table carries 150 kg (331 lb). The spindle nose sits 150-450 mm (5.9-17.7 in) above it, so a vise and a short part fit easily, but a tall fixture uses up the Z stroke quickly.
Tools sit in a 16-position wheel-type changer with a 1 s tool-to-tool time. Each tool can be up to 63 mm (2.5 in) in diameter, 200 mm (7.9 in) long and 3 kg (7 lb). Rapids are 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) and the cutting feed limit is 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm).
The control is the Siemens SINUMERIK 828D, which SYIL fits as standard. The frame is a Schneeberger mineral casting, and the ball screws and linear guides come from THK. A 125mm NC rotary table with its tailstock, a wireless probe, a cable tool setter and a Filtermist S200 extraction unit are listed as options, so don't assume any of them is on the base machine.
Installation is light for a machining center. The X5 weighs 2,180 kg (4,806 lb) and takes up 2,020 × 1,000 × 2,360 mm (79.5 × 39.4 × 92.9 in) including the coolant tank and controller. It needs AC380V three-phase power at 12 kVA and an air supply between 0.4 and 0.8 MPa.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Direct-drive BT30 spindle with a 20,000 rpm top speed, the fastest spindle in SYIL's X series
- 16-position wheel-type tool changer with a 1 s tool-to-tool time
- Rapids of 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) on a machine that weighs 2,180 kg (4,806 lb)
- Siemens SINUMERIK 828D control fitted as standard
- Schneeberger mineral casting frame with THK ball screws and linear guides
Limitations
- Travels of 300 mm in X, 260 mm in Y and 300 mm in Z keep the work to small parts in a single vise
- Spindle motor output is 4.8 kW (6.4 hp), which rules out heavy roughing in steel
- Table load stops at 150 kg (331 lb), fixtures included
- Tools are limited to 63 mm (2.5 in) in diameter and 3 kg (7 lb)
- The 4th axis, probe, tool setter and mist extraction unit are all options

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels are 300 mm (11.8 in) in X, 260 mm (10.2 in) in Y and 300 mm (11.8 in) in Z. The table measures 560 × 260 mm (22.0 × 10.2 in) and is rated for 150 kg (331 lb). The distance from the spindle nose to the table top runs from 150 to 450 mm, which is the figure to check against the height of your vise, part and longest tool.
02
The BT30 spindle is direct-driven and runs to 20,000 rpm. SYIL lists the spindle motor output as 4.8 kW (6.4 hp). The combination suits small-diameter tools at high surface speed in light alloys. For more motor on the same taper, the SYIL X7 has a belt-driven spindle that SYIL lists at 12,000 rpm with a 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) (rate/max) motor.
03
A wheel-type changer with 16 positions for BT30 holders. SYIL lists a tool-to-tool time of 1 s. Tools can be up to 63 mm (2.5 in) in diameter and 200 mm (7.9 in) long, and each may weigh up to 3 kg (7 lb).
04
Yes. SYIL lists a 125mm NC rotary table as an option for the X5, with a matching tailstock as a separate option. Both are extras on what is otherwise a 3-axis machining center, so include them in the quotation if the work needs indexing or rotary cuts.
05
The machine weighs 2,180 kg (4,806 lb) and its footprint is 2,020 × 1,000 × 2,360 mm (79.5 × 39.4 × 92.9 in), a figure that includes the coolant tank and controller. The power source is AC380V three-phase at 12 kVA. The air supply has to stay between 0.4 and 0.8 MPa, and the coolant tank holds 80 L (21.1 gal).
