How much does the SYIL L2 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SYIL L2 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SYIL L2 is a two-axis CNC turning center for chuck work: a 200 mm (7.9 in) chuck on an A2-6 spindle nose, a maximum workpiece diameter of ø380 mm (15.0 in) and a maximum workpiece length of 300 mm (11.8 in). It is the entry model of SYIL's three L lathes and the only one offered with a choice of 8 or 12 turret stations.
Short and wide is the shape of part it suits. Z travel is 360 mm (14.2 in) and X travel 200 mm (7.9 in), so flanges, discs, bushings and short shafts are the natural work, and anything long needs the bigger machines. The spindle bore is ø66 mm (2.6 in) with a through-bore of ø52 mm (2.0 in), which sets the limit for bar fed through the spindle.
Spindle power is listed as 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) and the top speed is 4,000 rpm. The servo turret is listed with 8/12 tools, a tool shank size of 25 × 25 / 20 × 20 mm and a boring bar diameter of ø40/ø32 mm. SYIL also lists a 12-tool turret in 25x25mm block type as an option, so the turret and shank size have to be fixed in the order. Both axes rapid at 30 m/min (1,181 ipm).
The L2 column of SYIL's lathe table shows no live tooling, C axis or counter spindle. A hydraulic tailstock is an option, not standard equipment, as are the chip conveyor with its pickup trolley, the Renishaw tool setter and the parts catcher. Buyers who need milling on the turret should look at the SYIL L3, which has a Power Turret.
The machine is compact: 1,775 × 1,600 × 1,690 mm (69.9 × 63.0 × 66.5 in) and 3,050 kg (6,724 lb). Control is the Siemens SINUMERIK 828D, standard across the SYIL range, and the ball screws and linear guides are from THK.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- ø380 mm (15.0 in) maximum workpiece diameter on a machine 1,775 mm long
- Spindle power of 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) with a 4,000 rpm top speed
- ø52 mm (2.0 in) through-spindle bore for bar work
- Servo turret available with 8 or 12 stations
- Rapids of 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) in both X and Z
- Siemens SINUMERIK 828D as standard
Limitations
- Maximum workpiece length is 300 mm (11.8 in), so shaft work is limited
- No live tooling, C axis or counter spindle appears in the L2 specification
- The tailstock is a hydraulic option, not part of the base machine
- Tool count and shank size are printed as pairs (8/12 tools, 25 × 25 / 20 × 20 mm), so the tooling must be settled when ordering
- Chip conveyor, tool setter and parts catcher are options

Frequently Asked Questions
01
SYIL lists a maximum workpiece diameter of ø380 mm (15.0 in) and a maximum workpiece length of 300 mm (11.8 in). Swing over the bed is ø510 mm (20.1 in) and swing over the carriage ø260 mm (10.2 in). The chuck is 200 mm (7.9 in), and the travels are 200 mm (7.9 in) in X and 360 mm (14.2 in) in Z.
02
No. SYIL's comparison table leaves the live tooling, C-axis, Y-axis and counter-spindle rows empty for the L2 and describes its turret as a servo turret. The SYIL L3 is the model in the range with a Power Turret, BMT55 live tooling at 5,000 rpm and a C axis with 0.001° indexing.
03
The specification gives the tool count as 8/12. Tool shank size is listed as 25 × 25 / 20 × 20 mm and boring bar diameter as ø40/ø32 mm. A 12-tool turret in 25x25mm block type appears separately on the options list, so state which turret you want when asking for a quotation.
04
The through-spindle bore is ø52 mm (2.0 in), inside a spindle bore of ø66 mm (2.6 in). The spindle nose is A2-6. SYIL lists a parts catcher for the L2 as an option; the page does not list a bar feeder for this model.
05
The control is the Siemens SINUMERIK 828D, fitted as standard. The machine measures 1,775 × 1,600 × 1,690 mm (69.9 × 63.0 × 66.5 in) and weighs 3,050 kg (6,724 lb). An optional chip conveyor with pickup trolley adds to the floor space needed.
