STV CNC STVR5 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the STV CNC STVR5 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from STV CNC or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

With 60 in of travel in both X and Y, the STV CNC STVR5 is the square 5 ft x 5 ft table among STV CNC's modular routers. Z travel is 5.75 in. The frame is a laser cut kit that the owner assembles, and the table comes with a 2.2 kW (3 HP), 24,000 rpm spindle.

Assembly is the owner's job. STV CNC ships the laser cut frame as a modular kit, with leg braces below and slotted cross braces on top to take the wasteboard. Once it is built, the gantry and the spindle carriage ride hardened and ground linear rails on every axis, with rack and pinion on X and Y and a ball lead screw on Z. The four motors are direct drive at 1:1. Listed figures are 600 in/min for default maximum travel speed, plus or minus 0.005 in per 12 in for motion accuracy and 0.0005 in for step resolution. A buyer who wants the 3:1 gear reduction adds it as an upgrade, or looks at the welded STVR5 PRO, where it is standard.

The square 60 in bed is wide enough for 5 ft material, which the 4 ft wide tables of the range cannot take, and it lets a part be turned either way on the board. A 5 x 10 sheet still has to be halved first. With 5.75 in of maximum Z travel shared between the wasteboard, the stock and the tool, this is a table for sheet and slab work and not for tall parts.

The spindle is an air-cooled 2.2 kW (3 HP) unit that runs to 24,000 rpm, fed by a variable frequency drive with a 110 V single-phase input. It takes ER20 collets, and collets for 1/4 in and 1/2 in tools are included. There is no tool changer in the listing: bits are swapped by hand with two wrenches, which the owner supplies. A magnetic quick-release dust shoe with a 2.5 in port comes with the table. Control is STV CNC's own Optimum CNC software on a fanless Linux mini PC linked by Ethernet. The PC is included; the monitor, keyboard and mouse are not, and neither are the wasteboard or the dust extractor hose.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the cutting area of the STVR5?

5 ft W x 5 ft L. X and Y travel are 60 in each and maximum Z travel is 5.75 in. Material 5 ft wide fits, which it does not on the narrower tables in the range.

02 What spindle comes with the STVR5?

An air-cooled 2.2 kW (3 HP) spindle with a speed of 24,000 rpm, run by a variable frequency drive with a 110 V single-phase input. It uses ER20 collets, and collets for 1/4 in and 1/2 in tools are included. Bits are changed by hand with two wrenches.

03 Will a full sheet fit on the STVR5?

Not whole. With 60 in of travel in each direction, a 4 x 8 or 5 x 10 sheet has to be cut down before loading. Shops that want to nest on full sheets should look at the STVR8 or the STVR10.

04 What software controls the STVR5?

STV CNC's Optimum CNC control software, installed on a mini PC that comes with the table and connects by Ethernet. It accepts TAP, TXT, NC, DNC, ISO and CNC files. A monitor, keyboard and mouse have to be supplied by the owner, and design files are prepared on a separate computer.
