How much does the STV CNC STVR8 PRO cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the STV CNC STVR8 PRO that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
On the STV CNC STVR8 PRO, a 4 x 8 sheet goes down whole: the cutting envelope is 4 ft W x 8 ft L, with 48 in of X travel, 96 in of Y and 5.75 in of Z. It is the full-sheet size in the welded PRO router line and is shipped assembled, not as a kit.
What the PRO name adds is the frame and the drive. The tubular frame is fully welded and the table arrives assembled, standing on industrial leveling feet with the control box attached. Four stepper motors work through a 3:1 gear reduction system, which is an extra on the modular STVR8. A homing kit with 4 proximity sensors is built in. The rest of the motion system is shared with the modular tables: hardened and ground linear guide rails on all three axes, rack and pinion on X and Y, and a billet ball lead screw on Z with 5.75 in of maximum travel. STV CNC lists plus or minus 0.005 in per 12 in for motion accuracy, 0.0005 in for step resolution and 600 in/min as the default maximum travel speed.
Because Y travel is 96 in, cabinet sides, door blanks and long sign panels can be cut from a whole sheet in one setup, and a nest can use the full length of the board. Width is the limit. X travel of 48 in is the width of the sheet with nothing to spare, so the board has to be laid square to the axes. Loading a full sheet also needs clear floor along one long side of the table.
The control side matches the modular tables. Optimum CNC runs on an included mini PC with an Ethernet connection to the attached control box, and reads TAP, TXT, NC, DNC, ISO and CNC files. STV CNC states that this PC is not meant for creating design files, so CAD and CAM work happens on a separate computer. The spindle is air-cooled, 2.2 kW (3 HP), 24,000 rpm, with ER20 collets for 1/4 in and 1/2 in bits and an attached variable frequency drive. Input power is a 110 V AC, 15 A circuit. The wasteboard, dust extractor hose, display, keyboard and mouse are not part of the table.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Fully welded tubular frame, shipped fully assembled on industrial leveling feet
- 3:1 gear reduction system on 4 stepper motors is standard
- Air-cooled 2.2 kW (3 HP), 24,000 rpm spindle with an attached variable frequency drive
- 48 in x 96 in of travel takes a full 4 x 8 sheet in one setup
Limitations
- Same 2.2 kW (3 HP) spindle and 5.75 in of maximum Z travel as the modular STVR8
- Motion accuracy is listed as plus or minus 0.005 in per 12 in, no tighter than on the modular tables
- X travel of 48 in leaves no margin beside a 4 ft wide sheet

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Yes. X travel is 48 in and Y travel is 96 in, which is the size of a 4 x 8 sheet, so the sheet has to be set square to the axes. Maximum Z travel is 5.75 in.
02
A wasteboard and its fasteners, a dust extractor hose for the 2.5 in dust port, and a monitor, keyboard and mouse for the mini PC. The spindle, the attached variable frequency drive, ER20 collets for 1/4 in and 1/2 in tools, the dust shoe and the Optimum CNC software come with the table.
03
STV CNC lists a default maximum travel speed of 600 in/min. Over 96 in of Y travel that matters more than on the square tables, because the moves between nested parts are longer.
04
STV CNC lists input power as a 110 V AC, 15 A circuit. The spindle is driven by a variable frequency drive with a 110 V single-phase input and a 110 V 3-phase output, so the listed specification does not call for a three-phase supply in the building.
