Anderson Spectrum M512 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Anderson Spectrum M512 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Anderson or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Anderson Spectrum M512 is the 5 x 12 size of the Spectrum-M series and the largest machine in it. The table is 3700 mm (146”) by 1550 mm (61”) and carries 3 vacuum zones. X stroke is 3880 mm (152”), Y stroke 1835 mm (72”) and Z stroke 200 mm (8”). Weight is 3,700 Kg (8,200 lbs.).

Put that weight next to the table size. A 12 ft router at 3,700 Kg is a light machine for its bed length, which fits how Anderson describes the series: compact, for companies with limited budget or floor space. The frame is stated to be 100% steel, and the drives are the same as on the smaller sizes, helical rack and pinion in X and Y and a ball screw in Z.

Three zones are the practical gain over the Spectrum M510. A 12 ft table often holds something shorter than 12 ft, and with 3 zones the unused end can be shut off. Pump choice is 10, 25 or 40 HP.

The head is unchanged from the rest of the series. A 12 HP spindle runs to 22,000 rpm on HSK-63F, tools come from a rack style changer with 8 positions and a boring block is listed as 6 inline, or 5+5. X and Y rapid at 60 m/min, 85 m/min at most with both moving, and Z at 12 m/min. Over a 3880 mm stroke, every visit to the tool rack is a long round trip, so tool order in the program deserves care. FANUC 0i is the control. A C-axis is listed as not available.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Largest Spectrum-M table: 3700 mm (146”) by 1550 mm (61”)
  • 3 vacuum zones for shutting off the unused part of a long table
  • 3880 mm (152”) of X stroke on helical rack and pinion
  • 8-position rack style tool changer plus a boring block listed as 6 inline, or 5+5
  • FANUC 0i control and a 22,000 rpm HSK-63F spindle shared with Anderson's larger models

Limitations

  • Spindle is 12 HP on every size, including this 5 x 12 machine
  • Rack tool changes mean long gantry trips on a 3880 mm (152”) stroke
  • Z stroke stays at 200 mm (8”)
  • C-axis is listed as not available; off-loading equipment is optional

Best For

5 x 12 sheet goods where floor space is tight Long panels in wood, plastic and composites Mixed sheet lengths held on 3 vacuum zones Routing with few tool changes per sheet

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big is the Spectrum M512 table?

3700 mm (146”) in X by 1550 mm (61”) in Y, with strokes of 3880 mm (152”) and 1835 mm (72”). It is the largest of the three Spectrum-M sizes, which Anderson says range from 4' x 8' to 5' x 12'.

02 Is the Spectrum M512 spindle more powerful than on the smaller models?

No. All three sizes list a 12 HP spindle at up to 22,000 rpm with HSK-63F clamping. The Spectrum M512 differs from the Spectrum M510 in table length, in having 3 vacuum zones instead of 2, and in weight: 3,700 Kg (8,200 lbs.) against 3,100 Kg (6,800 lbs.).

03 How fast does the Spectrum M512 move?

Rapid travel is 60 m/min in X, 60 m/min in Y and 12 m/min in Z, with a maximum rapid traverse of 85 m/min. X and Y are driven by helical rack and pinion and Z by a ball screw. The table gives no cutting feed rate.

04 What options does Anderson list for the Spectrum M512?

Reverse air flow, a bar-code reader, an offload pusher sweeper and automatic off-loading are optional. Compact aggregate ability is standard. A C-axis is marked as not available. The vacuum pump is offered in 10, 25 or 40 HP sizes.
