Sharp STC-80 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Sharp STC-80 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Sharp or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Sharp STC-80 takes the extra heavy duty STC design to an 80 in (2032 mm) swing and drops the short beds. Two versions exist. The STC-80160 has 157.48 in (4,000 mm) between centers and the STC-80200 has 196.85 in (5,000 mm), and on both the Z-axis travel and the maximum cutting length match the center distance.

There is a large jump in mass at this size. The STC-80160 weighs 58,800 lb (26,700 kg) and the STC-80200 weighs 61,100 lb (27,800 kg); the STC-60 at 157.48 in (4,000 mm) is listed at 48,500 lb (22,000 kg). Foundation design, rigging and crane capacity become part of the purchase.

Both lengths use the 9.3 hp Z-axis servo. The cross slide travels 15.75 in (400 mm), the bed is 49.21 in (1250 mm) wide with multiple guides, and the cross slide and tailstock keep to different bedways.

Unlike the smaller STC pages, Sharp's table for the STC-80 carries no usable roll cutting diameter: the inch and metric entries in those rows disagree. Establish the diameter range with Sharp for the tool post you intend to fit. Overall height differs slightly by length, 115.8 in (2,940 mm) and 116 in (2,960 mm), and width is 150.4 in (3,820 mm).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 80 in (2032 mm) swing over the bed
  • 58,800 lb (26,700 kg) and 61,100 lb (27,800 kg) machine weights
  • 9.3 hp Z-axis servo on both lengths
  • Z travel equal to the center distance, up to 196.85 in (5,000 mm)
  • Five listed spindle bores, 6 in (152 mm) to 15 in (380 mm)

Limitations

  • Only two bed lengths, 157.48 in (4,000 mm) and 196.85 in (5,000 mm) between centers
  • Roll cutting diameter rows on Sharp's page are not consistent between inch and metric
  • 15.75 in (400 mm) of X travel on an 80 in swing
  • Around 116 in (2,960 mm) of height and 150.4 in (3,820 mm) of width

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What lengths does the STC-80 come in?

Two. The STC-80160 has 157.48 in (4,000 mm) between centers and is 320.9 in (8,150 mm) long with its chip conveyor. The STC-80200 has 196.85 in (5,000 mm) between centers and is 360.2 in (9,150 mm) long.

02 How does the STC-80 compare with the STC-95?

The STC-95 swings 95 in (2413 mm) where the STC-80 swings 80 in (2032 mm), and it is taller at 126.0 in (3,200 mm). At 157.48 in (4,000 mm) centers the STC-95 is listed at 64,300 lb (29,300 kg) and the STC-80 at 58,800 lb (26,700 kg). Bed, travels, motors and width are the same in both tables.

03 What is the roll cutting diameter of the STC-80?

It cannot be read reliably from Sharp's page. The maximum and minimum roll cutting diameter rows for this model print inch and metric values that do not correspond, so neither is repeated here. The firm figures are the 80 in (2032 mm) swing and 15.75 in (400 mm) of X-axis travel.

04 Which motors are fitted to the STC-80?

A 30 hp Fanuc Alpha 22 spindle motor with 40 hp or 50 hp optional, a 5.3 hp X-axis servo and a 9.3 hp Z-axis servo. The hydraulic pump is 2 hp (1.5 kW) and the coolant pump 1.7 hp (1.27 kW). The control is a FANUC Oi-TF.
