Overview
Two Sharp lathes swing 59.84 in (1520 mm) on a wide bed, and the STC-60 is the heavier and narrower-purposed of them. Where the STB-60 has a 31.89 in (810 mm) bed and 27.56 in (700 mm) of X travel, the STC-60 has a 49.21 in (1250 mm) bed and 15.75 in (400 mm) of X travel. One is a big bore lathe that can face; the other is a roll lathe.
Its roll cutting diameters run from 28.35 in (720 mm) to 51.18 in (1300 mm). Parts in that range are heavy, and the machine is built to match: 39,600 lb (18,000 kg) with the 78.74 in (2,000 mm) bed, rising to 52,900 lb (24,000 kg) with the 196.85 in (5,000 mm) bed.
