How much does the Seibu M50HP cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Seibu M50HP that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Seibu M50HP is a precision-class, water-specification wire EDM with 500 × 400 × 310 mm (19.7 × 15.7 × 12.2 in) of axis travel and room for an 800 kg (1,764 lb) workpiece. It is the middle size of the HP line, between the M35HP and the M75HP.
Moving up or down that line changes more than stroke. The M35HP is limited to a 350 kg (772 lb) workpiece and a 220 mm (8.7 in) work thickness. The M75HP takes 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) but weighs 5,600 kg (12,346 lb). At 3,300 kg (7,275 lb), with the same 300 mm (11.8 in) workpiece height as the M75HP, the M50HP fits the big machine's vertical capacity into an outline of 1,915 × 2,260 × 2,035 mm (75.4 × 89.0 × 80.1 in).
The table gives a maximum workpiece of 850 × 730 × 300 mm (33.5 × 28.7 × 11.8 in). Taper cutting is rated ±10° through a 300 mm work thickness. For steep walls over a short height Seibu offers ±45° at 40 mm (1.6 in) as an option. The U-V axes travel ±60 × ±60 mm (±2.4 × ±2.4 in).
Wire runs from Φ0.07 to Φ0.3 mm, and Φ0.2 mm is standard. On paper the MM50UP is the same machine except that its range begins at Φ0.05 mm and Seibu classes it as ultra-precision. Smart NC, the MPSC-20 power supply and the MF50-01 filtration device complete the listed equipment.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 300 mm (11.8 in) workpiece height and 310 mm (12.2 in) third-axis travel in a 3,300 kg (7,275 lb) machine
- 800 kg (1,764 lb) workpiece weight, more than twice the 350 kg (772 lb) of the M35HP
- Maximum workpiece of 850 × 730 × 300 mm (33.5 × 28.7 × 11.8 in)
- ±10° taper at a 300 mm work thickness on ±60 × ±60 mm (±2.4 × ±2.4 in) U-V axes
- Outline of 1,915 × 2,260 × 2,035 mm (75.4 × 89.0 × 80.1 in)
Limitations
- Wire range stops at Φ0.07 mm; the MM50UP is listed down to Φ0.05 mm
- Stroke in plan is 500 × 400 mm, so the largest permitted workpiece cannot be cut all over in one setup
- The ±45° taper at 40 mm (1.6 in) is an option
- Seibu's page states no positioning accuracy or cutting speed for the model

Frequently Asked Questions
01
In the middle. The M35HP below it has 350 × 300 × 230 mm (13.8 × 11.8 × 9.1 in) of travel and a 350 kg (772 lb) workpiece limit. The M75HP above it has 750 × 500 × 310 mm (29.5 × 19.7 × 12.2 in) and 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). The M50HP offers 500 × 400 × 310 mm (19.7 × 15.7 × 12.2 in) and 800 kg (1,764 lb).
02
Seibu rates the machine at ±10° for a work thickness of 300 mm (11.8 in), the same height as the tallest workpiece it accepts. A ±45° taper at 40 mm (1.6 in) is listed as an option.
03
The published tables differ only in wire range: Φ0.07 to Φ0.3 mm on the M50HP and Φ0.05 to Φ0.3 mm on the MM50UP. If the work never calls for wire finer than Φ0.07 mm, the table gives no reason to prefer the MM50UP. Seibu classes it as ultra-precision, so ask for the accuracy specification of each before deciding.
04
The table names Smart NC as the control device, MPSC-20 as the power supply and MF50-01 as the filtration device. Φ0.2 mm wire is standard. No automatic wire feeding device is named in this model's table.
