Seibu Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. is based in Koga, Fukuoka, Japan, and runs three businesses: distribution equipment, valve and gate actuators, and precision machines. Its Precision Machine Division builds ultra-precision and high-precision wire EDMs in water and oil specifications and the SFG series of free-form grinding machines, which cut and grind in one chucking. The company states that it developed the world's first CNC wire cut EDM in 1972 and that it hand-scrapes ("kisage") the major mechanical components of its machines.
