How much does the Seibu M35HP cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Seibu M35HP that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Seibu M35HP is the smallest machine in Seibu's HP line of precision wire EDMs: a water-specification model with 350 × 300 × 230 mm (13.8 × 11.8 × 9.1 in) of axis travel that weighs 2,700 kg (5,952 lb).
It occupies 1,640 × 2,060 × 1,955 mm (64.6 × 81.1 × 77.0 in). The next HP size, the M50HP, needs 1,915 × 2,260 × 2,035 mm (75.4 × 89.0 × 80.1 in) and weighs 3,300 kg (7,275 lb). For a toolroom adding wire capacity in a tight bay, that is the practical argument for the 350×300 size.
The limits are on the workpiece. Maximum weight is 350 kg (772 lb) and maximum size 700 × 630 × 220 mm (27.6 × 24.8 × 8.7 in). Punches, inserts, small die sections and electrodes sit well inside that. A heavy die shoe does not. The ±10° taper rating covers the full 220 mm work thickness, and a ±45° taper at 40 mm (1.6 in) is offered as an option on U-V axes that travel ±60 × ±60 mm (±2.4 × ±2.4 in).
Standard wire is Φ0.2 mm, within a listed range of Φ0.07 to Φ0.3 mm. If finer wire is needed, the MM35UP goes to Φ0.05 mm on the same footprint. Both use Smart NC and the MPSC-20 power supply with the MF35-01 filtration device.
Seibu publishes a second cutting sample for the M-HP group: a tall taper combination cut at 10° through 100 mm of SKD11, finished to Ra 0.30 µm and Rz 2.80 µm in a cutting time of 4 hours.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Smallest outline in the HP line: 1,640 × 2,060 × 1,955 mm (64.6 × 81.1 × 77.0 in)
- 2,700 kg (5,952 lb) machine weight, against 3,300 kg (7,275 lb) for the M50HP
- ±10° taper over a 220 mm (8.7 in) work thickness
- Workpiece opening of 700 × 630 × 220 mm (27.6 × 24.8 × 8.7 in) on a 350 × 300 mm stroke
- Wire from Φ0.07 to Φ0.3 mm on the Smart NC control and MPSC-20 power supply
Limitations
- 350 kg (772 lb) workpiece limit; the M50HP takes 800 kg (1,764 lb)
- Work thickness limited to 220 mm (8.7 in)
- Wire below Φ0.07 mm is not listed; the MM35UP runs Φ0.05 mm
- The ±45° taper at 40 mm (1.6 in) has to be ordered as an option

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Seibu lists the machine at 1,640 × 2,060 × 1,955 mm (64.6 × 81.1 × 77.0 in) and 2,700 kg (5,952 lb). The page does not give service clearances, so allow for access around the machine and ask Seibu for the installation drawing.
02
The axis travel range is 350 × 300 × 230 mm (13.8 × 11.8 × 9.1 in). A workpiece of up to 700 × 630 × 220 mm (27.6 × 24.8 × 8.7 in) and 350 kg (772 lb) can be loaded, but only the area inside the travel is reachable without moving the part.
03
Seibu's page shows a tall taper combination cut for the SMM80B, MM-UP and M-HP group: SKD11, 100 mm thick, at a taper angle of 10°, with a surface finish of Ra 0.30 µm and Rz 2.80 µm and a cutting time of 4 hours. It is a group sample; the page does not say which model cut it.
04
The two tables match in travel, workpiece size, taper, dimensions and weight. The M35HP is headed as a precision machine with wire from Φ0.07 to Φ0.3 mm. The MM35UP is headed as an ultra-precision machine with wire from Φ0.05 mm. Seibu's page publishes no accuracy figures for either.
