SCM Morbidelli X200/X400 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the SCM Morbidelli X200/X400 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from SCM or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The SCM Morbidelli X200/X400 is the top of the nesting range, and the x400 column is the one nesting model here with a 5-axis spindle: up to 13.5 kW (18.4 hp). Both columns list a 3- or 4-axis spindle of up to 15 kW (20.5 hp).

The x400 is also the taller and better-stocked machine. Its Z axis panel passage is 180 mm (7.1 in) against 150 mm (5.9 in) on the x200, and its tool changer holds up to 53 positions against 38. The remaining rows are common to both: vectorial speed of 84 m/min in Pro-Space and 113 m/min in Pro-Speed, up to 21 independent vertical and 12 independent horizontal drilling spindles, and 2 integrated blades.

SCM quotes nesting processing at 50 m/min and a tool change of less than 15” with the FAST changer mounted on the mobile unit. The X-Vacuum System concentrates suction in the area of the table where the workpiece is being processed, which SCM recommends for small workpieces and highly breathable materials. With X-PODs and the 5-axis spindle, parts can be machined in 3D without taking the spoilboard off.

Five table sizes are listed, from 3156x1596 mm to 4356x2216 mm. An auxiliary routing unit of up to 5.4 kW (7.4 hp) and a 0-90° blade unit of up to 2.2 kW (3 hp) can be added, and a cell version is available for automated material flow.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 5-axis spindle of up to 13.5 kW (18.4 hp) on the x400
  • Vectorial speed of 113 m/min in the Pro-Speed version
  • Up to 53 positions on the x400 tool changer, 38 positions on the x200
  • X-Vacuum System concentrates suction where the workpiece is being processed
  • Auxiliary routing unit of up to 5.4 kW (7.4 hp) at up to 24000 rpm

Limitations

  • The x200 has no 5-axis spindle option in the table
  • Smallest table is 3156x1596 mm; the 2556x1296 mm (100x51 in) size of the Morbidelli X100 is not listed
  • Panel passage is 180 mm (7.1 in) at most, which limits 3D work on tall parts
06

Best For

Batch-one nesting with drilling, grooving and routing in one cycle 3D and edge work on nested parts with the x400 and X-PODs Small workpieces and breathable sheet materials Automated cells with managed material flow

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the x200 and the x400?

Three rows differ. The Z axis panel passage is 150 mm (5.9 in) on the x200 and 180 mm (7.1 in) on the x400. The tool changer holds up to 38 positions on the x200 and up to 53 positions on the x400. The 5-axis spindle of up to 13.5 kW (18.4 hp) is listed for the x400 only.

02 How fast is the Morbidelli X200/X400?

The vectorial speed of the X-Y axes is 84 m/min in Pro-Space and 113 m/min in Pro-Speed. SCM also quotes nesting processing at 50 m/min and less than 15” for the tool change with the FAST tool changer.

03 What is the X-Vacuum System?

SCM states that with the X-Vacuum System the vacuum is condensed into the area of the worktable where the workpiece is being processed. It describes this as suited to small workpieces or highly breathable materials.

04 Which table sizes are offered?

Five X-Y working areas: 3156x1596 mm, 3756x1596 mm, 3756x1896 mm, 3156x2216 mm and 4356x2216 mm. SCM's table lists them once for both models.
