Overview
The SCM Morbidelli P200 is a bar-table machining center that drills, routes and then edgebands the part it has just shaped. Its edgebanding unit applies edges from 16 to 85 mm high and from 0.4 to 3 mm thick, which covers thin decorative tapes as well as thick protective edges on worktops and doors.
Curved panels are where a machine like this earns its place. A straight-line edgebander cannot follow an arc; here the routing unit cuts the contour and the edge is applied along the same path in the same clamping. SCM also fits what it calls HE-PODs, which lift work pieces so that several parts can be machined from a single positioning.
The routing unit is listed at up to 15 kW (20.5 hp) and 24000 rpm with up to 60 places on the tool changer. Drilling is done by up to 21 independent vertical and 12 independent horizontal spindles at 8000 rpm, with an integrated blade in X of 125 mm (4.9 in) for grooves.
