Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SCM Accord 400 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SCM Accord 400 is a bar-table drilling and routing center that SCM calls its new generation and aims at small and medium-sized businesses. It is offered in three lengths on a single Y depth: 3100 x 1600 x 250 mm, 4300 x 1600 x 250 mm and 5500 x 1600 x 250 mm.
Speed is its headline figure. SCM lists a maximum X-Y-Z axis speed of 120 m/min in the PRO-SPEED version and 84 m/min in PRO-SPACE, each as a single figure for the three axes. The gantry is motorised on both sides, which SCM credits for the high movement speeds.
The table lists a 4-axis electrospindle of up to 13.5 kW (18.4 hp) and gives 24000 rpm as the maximum for both the 4-axis and the 5-axis electrospindle. Ask for the 5-axis spindle power rating in the quotation. Four tool changers are named: a TRB side changer with 14 positions, a RAPID front circular changer with 12 positions, a FAST linear changer with 18 positions and a VELOCE on-board circular changer with 16 positions. SCM places the RAPID changer at the front inside the cabin to keep the machine compact.
Drilling is done by up to 21 independent vertical spindles at a maximum of 8000 rpm. The flexmatic pro worktable positions suction pods and clamps automatically with a direct drive shuttle system.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Maximum axis speed of 120 m/min in the PRO-SPEED version, 84 m/min in PRO-SPACE
- RAPID front circular tool changer with 12 positions sits inside the cabin, keeping the footprint small
- flexmatic pro worktable with automatic positioning of suction pods and clamps
- Four tool changers listed, including a FAST linear changer with 18 positions
Limitations
- One Y depth only, 1,600 mm (63.0 in); the Accord 500 also offers 1,900 mm (74.8 in)
- Z is 250 mm (9.8 in), the lowest of the bar-table Accord models listed here
- The drilling unit row lists vertical spindles only, up to 21, with no horizontal spindles named
- The 5-axis spindle power rating has to be confirmed in the quotation

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Three working areas: 3100 x 1600 x 250 mm, 4300 x 1600 x 250 mm and 5500 x 1600 x 250 mm. Only the X length changes. Y is 1,600 mm (63.0 in) and Z is 250 mm (9.8 in) on all three.
02
SCM lists a maximum X-Y-Z axes speed of 120 m/min for the PRO-SPEED version and 84 m/min for the PRO-SPACE version. The page gives one figure per version instead of a separate figure for each axis.
03
The table lists a TRB side tool changer with 14 positions, a RAPID front circular tool changer with 12 positions, a FAST linear tool changer with 18 positions and a VELOCE on-board circular tool changer with 16 positions. Confirm which of them are in the configuration you are offered.

SCM describes Optizone as a patented system for its CNC bar machining centres. With a click, the size of the two work areas can be defined at the programming stage according to the pieces to be machined. SCM says the function is also available for the clamps.
