Overview
Röders builds the RPT600DSH with one of two rotary-swivel units, and the choice between them shapes the machine. One has a 250 mm round table and takes 60 kg (132 lb). The other has a 350 mm round table and takes 100 kg (220 lb). The machining range is 500 mm x 530 mm x 300 mm (19.7 x 20.9 x 11.8 in) with either.
The small table is the more offset one. Röders explains that with it the workpiece sits in the centre of the swivel and rotary axes, so the linear axes make substantially fewer compensating movements during 5-axis machining. Shorter compensating moves mean shorter cycle times and less accumulated error. A shop that mostly machines small, high-accuracy parts in simultaneous 5-axis mode should take that seriously, even though the larger table looks more flexible on paper.
Clamping follows the table. The 250 mm unit is listed with Erowa ITS148 PowerChuck, System 3R Magnum or Parotec Power Grip 160. The 350 mm unit is listed with Erowa UPC. Spindle-nose-to-table distance is 405 mm with the small table and 385 mm with the large one. Swivelling range is +/- 115 degrees in both cases.
Milling, grinding and measuring are all possible. The standard spindle is 42,000 rpm with 15 kW (20.1 hp) on HSK E40 and tools up to 16 mm, with spindles up to HSK A63 on request. 42 or 87 tools fit the changer. The machine weighs about 9.3 t and needs W 3,000 mm x L 2,700 mm x H 2,870 mm (113.0 in).
