Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Röders RXP400DSC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Röders RXP400DSC is the second 5-axis version of the RXP400, built with a different rotary-swivel unit. Röders describes that unit as having a large offset and a swivel angle of up to 135 degrees. In the technical data the two 5-axis versions are otherwise twins, so the choice between them comes down to how the part has to sit relative to the swivel axis.
The figures first. Machining range is 310 mm x 294 mm x 210 mm (12.2 x 11.6 x 8.3 in), the swivelling range is -30/+135 degrees and the table is 199 mm (7.8 in) in diameter with an optional integrated chuck. Workpiece weight stops at 15 kg (33 lb). The machine is slightly taller than its sibling: the required space is W 2,480 mm x L 1,995 mm x H 2,160 mm, where the RXP400DS needs H 2,080 mm.
An offset unit moves the table away from the swivel axis. On a machine this small that gives the spindle more room to come around the part at steep angles, at the cost of longer compensating moves in the linear axes. For parts that are machined mostly from the side or from below the clamping plane, that room is worth having.
Tooling follows the rest of the RXP400 family. The standard spindles are 50,000 rpm with HSK E25 and 40,000 rpm with HSK E32, tools go up to 6 mm and 10 mm in diameter respectively, and the linear changer has 16 places with chain changers of 40, 70 or more places as options. A measuring laser is integrated. Röders rules out grinding on this model.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Rotary-swivel unit with large offset and a swivel angle of up to 135 degrees
- Swivelling range of -30/+135 degrees; rotation range almost unlimited
- 50,000 rpm (HSK E25) or 40,000 rpm (HSK E32) standard spindles
- Optional chain changer with 40, 70 or more places, loadable during machining
- Optical encoders in the rotary axes, with 2 arcseconds positioning accuracy stated for the series
Limitations
- 15 kg (33 lb) workpiece limit on a 199 mm table
- Taller than the RXP400DS: H 2,160 mm against H 2,080 mm
- Largest tool diameter is 10 mm, and only with the HSK E32 spindle
- No distance between spindle nose and table is given for this version, so clearance has to be checked on the stroke drawing

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Röders does not spell the letter out. What it states is that the rotary-swivel unit of the RXP400DSC has a large offset and a swivel angle of up to 135 degrees. The table size, workpiece weight and machining range match the RXP400DS.
02
The machining range is 310 mm x 294 mm x 210 mm (12.2 x 11.6 x 8.3 in). The table is 199 mm in diameter, the swivelling range is -30/+135 degrees and the rotation range is listed as almost unlimited.
03
The required space is W 2,480 mm x L 1,995 mm x H 2,160 mm (97.6 x 78.5 x 85.0 in). Machine weight is about 3.2 t. Chips fall into 1 chip box, and a chip conveyor is optional.
04
A linear changer with 16 places is standard. Chain changers with 40, 70 or more places are optional, and they can be loaded during machining. Tool measurement is by an integrated measuring laser.
