Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Quicktech T8 Twin-Y that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Quicktech T8 Twin-Y is a 75° slant-bed turret lathe with a Y axis and a sub-spindle, sized for 65 mm (2.6 in) bar and for chucked parts up to 300 mm (11.8 in) in turning diameter. One BMT-55 power turret with 12 stations serves both spindles. It is the conventional twin-spindle layout in the T8 group, between the single-spindle T8 Mill-Y and the two-system T8 Hybrid-Y.
The sub-spindle on this model is generous. Its table gives 200 mm (7.9 in) of maximum turning diameter, 42 mm (1.7 in) bar capacity and 150 mm (5.9 in) of turning length, the same length as the main spindle. That makes real second-operation work possible on the back end, including Y-axis milling, since the one turret reaches both sides. The sub-spindle rides on a Z2 axis of 385 mm and is rated 3.7 kW (5.0 hp), with 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) available.
Y1 travel is 80 mm = ±40 mm (3.1 in = ±1.6 in). Per Quicktech, the turret can be additionally equipped with driven tools on six stations and the main spindle works as a C axis with them. With one turret, though, only one tool cuts at a time. Parts whose two ends need similar amounts of work will run in sequence here, and that is the case the T8 Hybrid-Y's second tool system is meant for.
The main spindle is an 11 kW (14.8 hp) servo spindle at 3,000 rpm, with 4,000 rpm as an option. X1/Z1 travel is 150 mm / 380 mm (5.9 in / 15.0 in). The maker specifies ball screws of Ø32mm-P10, a Mitsubishi M80 control and a machine weight of 5,700 kg (12,566 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Sub-spindle with 200 mm (7.9 in) turning diameter and 150 mm (5.9 in) turning length for full back-end operations
- Y1 axis of 80 mm = ±40 mm (3.1 in = ±1.6 in) on a 12-station BMT-55 power turret
- 300 mm (11.8 in) maximum turning diameter with 500 mm (19.7 in) swing over the bed
- 25 bar, 30 L/min high-pressure coolant pump listed, with a 240 L tank
- Compact for its class: 1,650 mm / 1,750 mm (65.0 in / 68.9 in) in width and height
Limitations
- A single turret serves both spindles, so the two ends are machined one after the other
- Maximum turning length is 150 mm (5.9 in), which rules out longer shafts
- Standard spindle speed is 3,000 rpm; 4,000 rpm is an option
- Driven tools are an additional fit on six of the 12 stations, not on all of them

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The sub-spindle. Both columns of the maker's table share the main spindle, the 75° slant bed, the Y1 axis and the BMT-55 power turret. The T8 Twin-Y adds a sub-spindle for 42 mm (1.7 in) bar on a Z2 axis, and weighs 5,700 kg (12,566 lb) against 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) for the T8 Mill-Y.
02
The sub-spindle rows give a maximum turning diameter of 200 mm (7.9 in), a bar working diameter of 42 mm (1.7 in) and a turning length of 150 mm (5.9 in). The nose is A2-5 with a 32 mm (1.3 in) bore, and speed is 4,000 rpm or 6,000 rpm as an option.
03
Quicktech states that the BMT turret with 12 stations can be additionally equipped with driven tools on six stations, and that the main spindle is C-axis functional for positioning with them. The spec table itself lists the turret as a BMT-55 Power Turret with 12 tools.

X1/Z1 travel is 150 mm / 380 mm (5.9 in / 15.0 in) and Y1 is 80 mm = ±40 mm (3.1 in = ±1.6 in). The second group shows a Z2 travel only. Rapid feed is 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on 35 mm (1.4 in) guide ways.
