Goodway GVI-350 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Goodway GVI-350 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Goodway or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training

Overview

The Goodway GVI-350 is an inverted vertical turning center with two 12 in spindles and two turrets, laid out so that a part is machined on both sides and passed from one spindle to the other with no robot in between. Maximum turning diameter is Ø350 mm (13.8 in) and turning height 400 mm (15.7 in).

Spindle 1 hangs upside down. It travels 750 mm (29.5 in) in X1 and 550 mm (21.7 in) in Z1, which lets it move to a loading station, pick up a blank, carry it to the lower turret and cut. Chips fall straight into the tray. After the first operation, spindle 1 hands the part to spindle 2 in a synchronized transfer, and spindle 2 presents the other side to the upper turret. That turret moves 550 mm (21.7 in) in both X2 and Z2.

Each spindle is rated 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous and 15 kW (20.1 hp) for 30 min., with 286 Nm (211 lb-ft) of maximum torque, and Goodway states a top speed of 3,000 rpm for both. The 3-jaw chuck clamps with 14,200 kgf, a figure the maker links to stable holding of workpieces of 20 kg.

Each turret has 8 stations for 25 mm (1.0 in) square and Ø50 mm (2.0 in) round tools. Twelve-station live tooling turrets with ER32 collets, 40 ~ 4,000 rpm, are optional, along with a built-in Cs-type C-axis. All axes rapid at 24 m/min (945 ipm) on roller linear guideways, and a dual-system FANUC Oi-TF Plus runs the two sides.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Two spindles and two turrets: both sides of a part in one machine with direct spindle-to-spindle transfer
  • Inverted spindle 1 loads itself and lets chips fall clear
  • 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous and 286 Nm (211 lb-ft) on each spindle
  • 24 m/min (945 ipm) rapids on roller linear guideways
  • 14,200 kgf hydraulic chuck clamping force, per Goodway

Limitations

  • Turning diameter is Ø350 mm (13.8 in) on a 12 in chuck
  • Standard turrets have only 8 stations each
  • Goodway relates the chuck to workpieces of 20 kg, so heavy parts are out of scope
  • Live tooling and C-axis are options

Best For

High-volume chucked parts machined on both faces, such as gears and hubs Automated lines where the spindle acts as the loader Parts up to Ø350 mm (13.8 in) and about 20 kg

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How does the GVI-350 machine both sides of a part?

Spindle 1 is inverted and cuts the first side against the lower turret. It then transfers the part to spindle 2 in a synchronized handover, and spindle 2 cuts the second side against the upper turret. Goodway says this removes the need for manual intervention or additional mechanisms.

02 What are the spindle specifications of the GVI-350?

Both spindles have 12 in chucks and are rated 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous and 15 kW (20.1 hp) for 30 min., with 286 Nm (211 lb-ft) of maximum torque. Goodway states a maximum speed of 3,000 rpm for spindle 1 and spindle 2.

03 What are the axis travels of the GVI-350?

Spindle 1 travels 750 mm (29.5 in) in X1 and 550 mm (21.7 in) in Z1. The upper turret travels 550 mm (21.7 in) in X2 and 550 mm (21.7 in) in Z2. X and Z rapids are 24 m/min (945 ipm).

04 How many tools does the GVI-350 hold?

8 on the upper turret and 8 on the lower turret, with 25 mm (1.0 in) square O.D. shanks and Ø50 mm (2.0 in) I.D. shanks. Both can be upgraded to 12-station live tooling turrets with ER32 collets running 40 ~ 4,000 rpm.
