How much does the Quicktech T8 Mill-Y cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Quicktech T8 Mill-Y that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Quicktech T8 Mill-Y is the single-spindle version of the maker's Y-axis turret lathe: a 75° slant bed, a BMT-55 power turret with 12 stations, and 80 mm = ±40 mm (3.1 in = ±1.6 in) of Y1 travel. It takes 65 mm (2.6 in) bar and turns up to 300 mm (11.8 in) in diameter. Quicktech describes the T8 series as designed primarily for heavy duty turning and milling in mass production.
A Y axis on a turret lathe earns its place on parts with features that do not sit on the centreline: keyways, flats with a true width, off-centre holes, bolt circles drilled without polar interpolation. The ±40 mm stroke sets the limit. Anything wider than that has to be milled in passes with C-axis rotation in between. The maker's text says driven tools can be fitted on six of the 12 stations, with the main spindle acting as a C axis.
The working envelope is short and wide. Swing over the bed is 500 mm (19.7 in) and swing over the cross slide 300 mm (11.8 in), but maximum turning length is 150 mm (5.9 in) on X1/Z1 travel of 150 mm / 380 mm (5.9 in / 15.0 in). The machine suits flanges, hubs and bar-fed parts, not shafts. The spindle is an 11 kW (14.8 hp) servo spindle on an A2-6 nose with a 66 mm (2.6 in) bore. It runs at 3,000 rpm as standard, and 4,000 rpm is the option.
No sub-spindle is listed in this column of the table; the T8 Twin-Y is the same machine with one. Coolant equipment includes a 25 bar, 30 L/min high-pressure pump and a 240 L tank. The control is a Mitsubishi M80 and the weight 5,500 kg (12,125 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Y1 axis of 80 mm = ±40 mm (3.1 in = ±1.6 in) for off-centre milling and drilling
- BMT-55 power turret with 12 stations; driven tools can be added on six stations, according to the maker
- 500 mm (19.7 in) swing over the bed and 300 mm (11.8 in) maximum turning diameter
- 11 kW (14.8 hp) servo spindle with a 66 mm (2.6 in) bore for 65 mm (2.6 in) bar
- High-pressure coolant pump of 25 bar, 30 L/min in the table
Limitations
- No sub-spindle, so back-end work needs a second chucking
- Maximum turning length is only 150 mm (5.9 in)
- Spindle speed is 3,000 rpm unless the 4,000 rpm option is ordered
- Two rows of this column in the maker's table are unusable as printed, a second-axis travel and the ball screw size, so confirm both

Frequently Asked Questions
01
No. The sub-spindle rows are blank in the T8 Mill-Y column. The T8 Twin-Y, printed in the next column of the same table, has a sub-spindle with 42 mm (1.7 in) bar capacity and weighs 5,700 kg (12,566 lb) against 5,500 kg (12,125 lb).
02
The Y1 axis travel is listed as 80 mm = ±40 mm (3.1 in = ±1.6 in). The Y1 servo motor is the middle figure of the AC Servo 2.2 / 1.5 / 1.5 kW (3.0 / 2.0 / 2.0 hp) row for X1/Y1/Z1.
03
Swing over the bed is 500 mm (19.7 in), swing over the cross slide 300 mm (11.8 in) and maximum turning diameter 300 mm (11.8 in). Maximum turning length is 150 mm (5.9 in). Bar capacity is 65 mm (2.6 in) through a 66 mm (2.6 in) spindle bore.
04
Machine weight is 5,500 kg (12,125 lb). Length is 2,450 mm / 3,350 mm (96.5 in / 131.9 in) without and with the chip conveyor, and width and height are 1,650 mm / 1,750 mm (65.0 in / 68.9 in).
