How much does the Fryer ET-21 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer ET-21 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fryer ET-21 starts the larger half of the Easy Turn range. Swing over the bed is 21 in (533 mm), the standard center distance is 60 in (1,524 mm), and the spindle bore is 3.40 in (86 mm) on a Camlock D1-8 nose. Against the ET-18 almost every capacity row steps up: a 15 hp (11.2 kW) peak motor, 12 in (305 mm) of X travel, 57 in (1,448 mm) of Z travel and 3,000 lb (1,361 kg) of supported part weight.
Bed length is configurable in both directions. Fryer lists 40 in (1,016 mm), 80 in (2,032 mm) and 120 in (3,048 mm) center distances as options, with Z travels of 37 in (940 mm), 77 in (1,956 mm) and 117 in (2,972 mm). A shop turning pump shafts or rolls picks the bed first and the rest follows from it.
This is also where the ET line gains milling. An 8 station bi-directional live tool automatic turret with VDI-30 tooling is offered for the ET-21 and ET-25 only, together with a 'C' axis contouring and indexing spindle that keeps the gearbox for torque at low speed. Cross holes, keyways and flats can then be done in the same chucking as the turning.
Speed is traded for torque. The spindle runs 50 - 2,000 rpm across a 50 - 300 rpm low range and a 300 - 2,000 rpm high range with auto shift. Big Bore Option #2 opens the bore to 4.01” on an A2-11 nose and holds speed to 1,500 rpm; Fryer notes that it requires 380-500 VAC or a special transformer. The machine weighs 7,500 lb (3,402 kg).
