Overview

The Pinnacle LV8 takes the high-speed LV5 design and lengthens it: 810 mm (31.9 in) of X, 510 mm (20.1 in) of Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) of Z over a 910x510 mm (35.8x20.1 in) table. Rapids stay at 36 / 36 / 36 m/min.

Nothing about the spindle changes with the larger envelope. The motor is 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp), the direct-drive spindle is listed at 12,000 (15,000) rpm, and the ISO30 built-in spindle at 24,000 (36,000/HSK-E40) rpm. So this is still a machine for small tools at high speed. What the buyer gains is room for a longer part, a second vise or a small rotary table beside the work.

Table load is 300 kg (661 lb), the same as on the smaller model, which keeps fixtures light. The spindle centre is 462 mm (18.2 in) from the column with ISO30 and 562 mm (22.1 in) with ISO40, and the tool diameter limit is Ø75 with adjacent tools and Ø150 without.

Weight is 3,600 kg (7,937 lb) on a 2,200 x 2,380 mm (86.6 x 93.7 in) floor space, with a 150 L coolant tank and a 15 kVA, 220 V supply. Pinnacle's table prints two different tool counts in the LV8 columns without labelling them, so the magazine size should be confirmed with the quotation.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 810 mm (31.9 in) of X travel with the same 36 / 36 / 36 m/min rapids as the LV5
  • High-speed spindle choices up to 24,000 (36,000/HSK-E40) rpm on ISO30
  • 910x510 mm (35.8x20.1 in) table leaves room for two setups
  • Light installation: 3,600 kg (7,937 lb) and 15 kVA

Limitations

  • Table load remains 300 kg (661 lb) despite the longer table
  • 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) motor is sized for small tools only
  • Tool capacity for this model is not printed clearly in the maker's table
06

Best For

Longer small parts and plates up to 810 mm (31.9 in) High-speed finishing of aluminium and graphite Twin-vise production of small components

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels and table size of the Pinnacle LV8?

Travels are 810 mm (31.9 in) in X, 510 mm (20.1 in) in Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) in Z. The table is 910x510 mm (35.8x20.1 in), carries 300 kg (661 lb) and has T-slots listed as 14x125x4.

02 Is the LV8 spindle the same as the LV5?

Yes. Both list a 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) motor, a direct-drive spindle at 12,000 (15,000) rpm and an ISO30 built-in spindle at 24,000 (36,000/HSK-E40) rpm. The table notes that ISO30 and ISO40 are both available on the LV5 and the LV8.

03 How large a tool can the LV8 hold?

The maximum tool diameter is Ø75 with adjacent tools in place and Ø150 without adjacent tools. Tool length and weight are printed in two unlabelled columns on the maker's page, so those limits should be confirmed with Pinnacle.

04 How much space does the LV8 take?

Floor space is 2,200 x 2,380 mm (86.6 x 93.7 in) and height is 2,815 mm (110.8 in). The machine weighs 3,600 kg (7,937 lb), and it needs 220 V, 15 kVA and air at 6 kg/cm².
