Overview
The Pinnacle BX500DD is the BX500 with direct-drive motors on both rotary axes. The B-axis head swivels ± 120° at up to 50 rpm and clamps with 2,950 Nm (2,175.9 lb-ft); the embedded Ø500 mm (Ø19.7 in) C-axis table also turns at 50 rpm.
Dropping the worm gear changes what the machine is good at. There is no reduction to wind up or wear, so reversals in simultaneous 5-axis paths are cleaner, and Pinnacle's stated rotary accuracy improves to 10"/10" with 6"/6" repeatability. The maker also notes an angular position coder at the rear of the B-axis shaft.
