How much does the OPS Ingersoll HIGH SPEED EAGLE V550 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the OPS Ingersoll HIGH SPEED EAGLE V550 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The OPS Ingersoll HIGH SPEED EAGLE V550 is the entry model of the maker's V-Line high-speed milling machines: 550 mm (21.7 in) of X, 400 mm (15.7 in) of Y and Z, and one spindle choice, HSK E40 at up to 42,000 rpm with 15 kW (20.1 hp).
It is built on the same frame figures as the HIGH SPEED EAGLE V5. Travels, the 650 x 490 mm (25.6 x 19.3 in) table, the 2,756 x 2,039 mm (108.5 x 80.3 in) footprint and the 8,500 kg (18,739 lb) weight are identical in the two tables. What the entry model leaves out is choice. The HIGH SPEED EAGLE V5 can be ordered with an HSK E50 spindle of 17 kW and with torque-driven rotary axes; here the list stops at HSK E40 and a geared swivel table.
As delivered it is a 3-axis machine with a T-slot table rated up to 500 kg (1,102 lb). The optional HSC round swivel table turns it into a 5-axis machine with a geared B-axis of -120° / +60° and a geared C-axis at 20 rpm, for workpieces of 250 kg (551 lb) within Ø 400 mm and 380 mm of height. A C-axis at 20 rpm is a positioning and contouring axis, not a turning one, which suits electrode and insert work.
Axes move at up to 30 m/min with 15 m/s² of acceleration, and the 32-position tool changer can be replaced by a MultiTool 100/150 magazine. The control is a HEIDENHAIN TNC 640 with a 19" touchscreen. OPS Ingersoll lists graphite, copper and soft and hard steel as the materials it is meant for, and offers the MultiChange easy pallet changer with 40 positions for electrodes as a retrofit.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- HSK E40 spindle running from 1 to 42,000 rpm with 15 kW (20.1 hp)
- Same travels and 8,500 kg (18,739 lb) build as the HIGH SPEED EAGLE V5
- Rapid traverse up to 30 m/min and acceleration up to 15 m/s²
- Can be extended to 5 axes with a geared swivel table for 250 kg (551 lb) workpieces
- MultiChange easy pallet changer can be retrofitted: 40 positions for electrodes or 5 positions for 320 x 320 mm pallets
Limitations
- Only the HSK E40 spindle is listed; the HIGH SPEED EAGLE V5 adds an HSK E50 option
- The swivel table is geared, with the C-axis at 20 rpm; the brochure lists no torque-drive version for this model
- 5-axis workpieces are limited to Ø 400 mm, 380 mm high and 250 kg
- Table load is up to 500 kg (1,102 lb), a quarter of the HIGH SPEED EAGLE V9 rating

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A high-frequency spindle with an HSK E40 interface, listed at 1 - 42,000 rpm and 15 kW (20.1 hp). That combination favours small cutters at high speed: fine detail in graphite and copper, and finishing in hardened steel. Minimum quantity lubrication is included, and aerosol dry lubrication is among the further options.
02
Both are possible. The base machine has a T-slot table that the maker describes as expandable over a 4th/5th axis. The option is an HSC round swivel table with a geared B-axis of -120° / +60° and a geared C-axis at 20 rpm. In 5-axis form the workpiece may be Ø 400 mm, 380 mm high and 250 kg (551 lb).
03
The frame is the same size. The HIGH SPEED EAGLE V5 offers a second spindle, HSK E50 with 17 kW, and a torque-driven swivel table whose C-axis reaches 100 rpm. The HIGH SPEED EAGLE V550 is listed with the HSK E40 spindle and the geared table only, which is why the maker calls it the entry-level model.
04
The machine measures 2,756 x 2,039 mm (108.5 x 80.3 in) and stands 2,510 mm (98.8 in) high. Total weight is 8,500 kg (18,739 lb) and the connected load 32 kVA. The maker points to the small footprint and to loading from two sides, which leaves operator access free when an automation unit is attached.
