Overview
The DN Solutions DNM 4500 L is the long-bed variant of the DNM 4500, extending the X-axis from 800 mm to 910 mm (36 in) and stretching the table to 1,050 x 450 mm. That extra 110 mm of X-travel doesn't sound dramatic on paper, but it's often the difference between fitting a part on the machine and having to outsource it or use a larger, more expensive VMC. The "L" models exist because DN Solutions figured out that a meaningful percentage of shops are just barely over the line on standard-travel machines.
The spindle delivers 8,000 RPM with 18.5 kW (25 hp) and 117.8 Nm of torque through an ISO 40 taper — identical to the standard DNM 4500. Box-way construction carries over as well, providing the rigidity that makes the DNM series effective for heavy steel and cast iron cutting. Y and Z travels remain at 450 mm and 510 mm respectively, so you're getting the extension where it matters most — along the table length.
The 1,050 x 450 mm table with 600 kg load capacity accommodates longer parts, multi-part fixtures, and side-by-side setups that the standard 1,000 x 450 mm table can't quite handle. At 5,500 kg, the DNM 4500 L carries slightly more mass than the standard model, adding to vibration damping during heavy cuts. The FANUC 0i-Plus control is consistent across the entire DNM family. For shops that regularly bump up against the X-travel limit on their current VMC, the DNM 4500 L provides the extra reach without jumping to the significantly larger and more expensive DNM 5700.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 910 mm X-travel bridges the gap between the DNM 4500 and DNM 5700, fitting parts that standard models can't quite reach
- 1,050 x 450 mm table accommodates longer parts and multi-part fixtures for improved production efficiency
- Box-way construction maintains the rigidity advantage that defines the DNM series
- Same 25 hp spindle and ISO 40 platform as the standard DNM 4500 — identical cutting performance
- 5,500 kg mass provides excellent vibration damping for heavy cuts in steel and cast iron
- FANUC 0i-Plus control and DNM platform consistency make operator and programmer transitions seamless
Limitations
- 8,000 RPM spindle speed limits high-speed aluminum work — 12K and 15K options available at additional cost
- 450 mm Y-travel hasn't changed from the standard model, which may still be limiting for wider parts
- 5,500 kg weight is heavier than the standard 4500, requiring slightly more floor preparation
- Small price premium over the standard DNM 4500 for 110 mm of additional X-travel

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New DNM 4500 L machines run $75,000-$115,000 depending on spindle option and accessories. The base machine with 8K RPM spindle starts around $75,000-$90,000. Adding the 12K or 15K RPM spindle, through-spindle coolant, and probing pushes pricing to $100,000-$115,000. The premium over a standard DNM 4500 is typically $5,000-$10,000.
02
If your parts fit within 910 mm X-travel, the 4500 L saves money and floor space. The DNM 5700 jumps to 1,050 mm X-travel and 570 mm Y-travel (vs 450 mm), with a significantly larger table and heavier load capacity. If you're consistently working near 900 mm parts, the 5700 gives you more breathing room for future growth.
03
Yes. The DNM 4500 L 4TH model comes with an integrated fourth axis from the factory. It combines the extended X-travel with 4-axis capability, making it one of the most versatile configurations in the DNM 4500 family.
04
The L extends X-travel to 910 mm with a standard 8K RPM spindle. The S keeps X-travel at 800 mm but upgrades the spindle to 15,000 RPM for high-speed work. Choose the L for longer parts; choose the S for faster spindle speed on parts that fit within 800 mm.
