How much does the Niigata HN1600-S BAR cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Niigata HN1600-S BAR that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Niigata HN1600-S BAR is the largest bar-spindle horizontal machining center in the HN-S family: a 1,600 mm × 1,320 mm pallet, 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) of load and a workpiece of φ3,200 mm × 3,000 mm, served by a quill with 555 mm (21.9 in) of stroke.
Its travels, 3,050 mm in X, 2,050 mm (80.7 in) in Y and 1,420 mm in Z, are those of the HN130D-BAR. Two things are different. First, rapid traverse is 30 m/min on the linear axes, because X and Z run on roller guides in the hybrid arrangement while Y stays on a sliding way. Second, the pallet rating can be raised to 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) as an option.
On a part this large, boring is as much about heat as about stiffness. A bore started in the morning has to line up with one finished hours later. Niigata addresses that with a core-cooled spindle and with geometry: the spindle is centred between the two halves of a double column, and Y is guided on both sides, so thermal growth is symmetrical. The spindle delivers 1,836 N·m (1,354 lb-ft) at up to 3,500 min-1 with BT50 tools.
The table's indexing row reads 0.001° for this model, with no coarser figure, so a fine-positioning rotary table is part of the standard machine. Two APCs are standard across the HN-S BAR series, and a sealed splash guard contains high-pressure coolant. The magazine holds 62 tools, expandable to 255 with the chain type.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) pallet load with a 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) option
- 30 m/min rapids on a bar machine with 3,050 mm of X travel
- 0.001° pallet indexing as standard
- 555 mm (21.9 in) quill stroke and 1,836 N·m (1,354 lb-ft) of torque
- 1,600 mm × 1,320 mm pallet for φ3,200 mm × 3,000 mm parts
Limitations
- Y travel of 2,050 mm is less than the 2,200 mm of the HN1600-S
- Rapids are 30 m/min, where the smaller HN1000-S BAR reaches 41 m/min
- Spindle speed limit of 3,500 min-1

φ3,200 mm in swing diameter and 3,000 mm in height, on a 1,600 mm × 1,320 mm pallet. The load limit is 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) as standard and 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) as an option.
02
30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on X, Y and Z, and 5 m/min on the W axis. The HN1000-S BAR and HN1250-S BAR are listed at 41 m/min.
03
A bar spindle with a 555 mm W-axis stroke, a BT50 shank, a maximum speed of 3,500 min-1 and a maximum torque of 1,836 N·m (1,354 lb-ft). Niigata describes the series' BAR spindle as φ130mm in diameter with a core cooling function.

Travels and workpiece size are the same. The HN1600-S BAR has the larger 1,600 mm × 1,320 mm pallet, hybrid guides with 30 m/min rapids and a 10,000 kg load option. The HN130D-BAR has a 1,320 mm × 1,320 mm pallet and rapids of 18 m/min in X and 12 m/min in Y and Z.
