Niigata HPN800 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Niigata HPN800 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Niigata or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Niigata HPN800 is the fast machine among the maker's 800 mm pallet horizontals: 60 m/min (2,362 ipm) rapids, an 8,000 min-1 BT50 spindle and a 55/37 kW spindle motor. It keeps the envelope of the HN80E in X and Y, 1,530 mm and 1,230 mm, and adds Z travel for a total of 1,220 mm (48.0 in). The pallet takes 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) and a part of φ1,750 mm × 1,400 mm.

Niigata calls the guideway arrangement a hybrid. X and Z run on roller guides, which is what makes the 60 m/min figure possible on a machine of this size. Y, the axis that carries the spindle head and sees the cutting load most directly, stays on a sliding way that is induction hardened and hand-scraped. The idea is to buy traverse speed on the long axes without giving up damping where the cut happens.

The base is a single T-shaped casting with honeycomb ribs. It rests on 3-point support, with 5 auxiliary leveling points, so the machine's geometry does not depend on how evenly a large foundation settles.

Maximum spindle torque is 1,202 N·m (887 lb-ft). That is less than the 1,948 N·m of the geared HN80E, but the motor is larger and the speed range is wider, which favours steel and cast iron at modern cutting speeds over very slow, very heavy cuts. Tool changes use a cam-driven ATC with a servo motor, designed to change heavy tools quickly. The magazine row of the table reads 90 tools, with 128 shown in brackets.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 60 m/min (2,362 ipm) rapids on an 800 mm pallet machine
  • 8,000 min-1 BT50 spindle with 1,202 N·m (887 lb-ft) and a 55/37 kW motor
  • 1,220 mm (48.0 in) of Z travel for deep parts and long tools
  • T-shaped honeycomb-rib base on 3-point support with 5-point auxiliary leveling
  • 90-tool magazine in the standard specification

Limitations

  • 1,202 N·m is lower than the 1,948 N·m of the HN80E and HN800-V
  • Only the Y axis has a sliding way; X and Z rely on roller guides
  • No magazine larger than 128 tools is shown, where the HN80E lists options up to 255

Best For

Production machining of steel and cast-iron housings up to 2,500 kg Parts with many features, where 60 m/min rapids cut non-cutting time Deep parts that need 1,220 mm of Z Work that needs spindle speeds up to 8,000 min-1 with 50-taper tools

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does hybrid guide mean on the Niigata HPN800?

Two guide types on one machine. The X and Z axes use roller guides for high-speed movement, giving a rapid traverse of 60 m/min. The Y axis uses a sliding guide whose surface is high-frequency induction hardened, with the slide side scraped by hand.

02 How does the HPN800 compare with the HN80E?

Same pallet, load, X and Y travels and workpiece size. Against the HN80E, the HPN800 is faster, with 60 m/min rapids instead of 40 m/min, and has 1,220 mm of Z instead of 1,020 mm. It also spins to 8,000 min-1. The HN80E has more torque: 1,948 N·m against 1,202 N·m.

03 What are the spindle specifications of the HPN800?

Niigata lists a standard spindle of 8,000 min-1 with a maximum torque of 1,202 N·m (887 lb-ft), a BT50 tool shank and a 55/37 kW main motor. No alternative spindle is shown for this model.

04 How many tools does the HPN800 carry?

The magazine row in Niigata's table reads 90, followed by 128 inside brackets. On the maker's other tables brackets mark options, so treat 128 tools as the larger magazine and confirm with Niigata. The changer is a cam-driven ATC with a servo motor.
