Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SW BA W08-22 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SW BA W08-22 is the two-spindle, two-table model of SW's largest standard linear-drive line. The spindles are 800 mm (31.5 in) apart. Each has 800 mm (31.5 in) of X, 900 mm (35.4 in) of Y and 660 mm (26.0 in) of Z.
It is the production machine of the BA W08 family. Two big parts are cut per cycle while two more are clamped on the other table. For aluminium engine blocks and gearbox housings in automotive volumes, that removes the longest idle period a large machine has, the part change.
The two tables set the fixture limit at Ø 950 x 1,830 mm. That is well below the Ø 1,650 x 1,830 mm of the single-table BA W08-21, so parts have to be clamped close to the rotary axis. Unlike the single-table models, the BA W08-22 has a fixed spindle distance in SW's table and one Y value for all interfaces.
Spindle options are HSK-A63 with a 1-17,500 rpm range, 35 kW and 80 Nm per spindle, and HSK-A80 or HSK-A100 with 1-12,500 rpm, 42 kW and 200 Nm per spindle. SW's energy claim for the series is 50% less energy used per part than single-spindle machining. Ask SW for the tool magazine capacity, which matters when two HSK-A100 spindles share it.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Two spindles and two work tables in the 800 mm class
- 800 x 900 x 660 mm of travel per spindle
- HSK-A63 at 17,500 rpm, or HSK-A80 or HSK-A100 with 42 kW and 200 Nm
- Linear drive technology and loading in parallel to machining time
- SW states 50% less energy used per part compared with single-spindle machining
Limitations
- Ø 950 x 1,830 mm interference circle limits fixture depth
- Y is 900 mm (35.4 in), less than the single-table BA W08-21 offers
- Fixed 800 mm (31.5 in) spindle distance in SW's table
- 200 Nm is the top torque figure

Per spindle: 800 mm (31.5 in) in X, 900 mm (35.4 in) in Y and 660 mm (26.0 in) in Z. The spindles are 800 mm (31.5 in) apart and the 4th axis clears Ø 950 x 1,830 mm.
02
HSK-A63 with a 1-17,500 rpm range, 35 kW and 80 Nm per spindle; or HSK-A80 or HSK-A100 with a 1-12,500 rpm range, 42 kW and 200 Nm per spindle.
03
The BA W06-22 has a 600 mm (23.6 in) pitch with 600 mm (23.6 in), 630 mm (24.8 in) and 510 mm (20.1 in) of travel per spindle. The BA W08-22 steps up to an 800 mm (31.5 in) pitch with 800 mm, 900 mm (35.4 in) and 660 mm (26.0 in).
04
Because large parts take long to clamp. With two work tables the spindles keep cutting while the next pair of parts is loaded, which SW lists as loading and unloading in parallel to machining time. The cost is the smaller Ø 950 x 1,830 mm swing.
