How much does the Niigata HN100D-II BAR cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Niigata HN100D-II BAR that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Niigata's HN100D-II BAR is a 1,000 mm pallet horizontal machining center with a boring-bar spindle, aimed at large parts with deep, accurate bores. The pallet is 1,000 mm × 1,000 mm, the workpiece can be φ2,300 mm × 1,850 mm, and the W-axis quill feeds out 555 mm (21.9 in) on a φ130 spindle.
Niigata's worked example is the end plate of an injection molding machine. Such plates are large, need precise tie-bar bores, and are tedious to re-fixture. With the quill, the deep holes are finished from one side in a single chucking, and the pallet changer lets the next plate be set up while the first is cut. The maker lists the two-pallet changer and a high-speed ATC under productivity for the series.
The travels are 2,030 mm (79.9 in) in X, 1,500 mm (59.1 in) in Y and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Z. All three linear axes rapid at 20 m/min, an even figure that sits between the smaller and larger BAR models, and W moves at 5 m/min. Standard pallet load is 3,500 kg (7,716 lb). The 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) option is restricted to the NC table, which also brings 0.001° indexing in place of 1°.
At the spindle, the machine gives 1,836 N·m (1,354 lb-ft) up to 3,500 min-1 with BT50 tools. Core cooling of the spindle is standard. Structurally Niigata stresses the square-slide column traverse design, with the column guides, ball screw and spindle centred on one line, and a double column that guides the head on both sides. Magazine capacity starts at 62 and extends to 255 tools.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 555 mm (21.9 in) quill stroke on a φ130 bar spindle
- Workpiece up to φ2,300 mm × 1,850 mm with pallet changing
- 1,836 N·m (1,354 lb-ft) at up to 3,500 min-1
- Even 20 m/min rapids on X, Y and Z
- 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) option with the NC table
Limitations
- Y travel of 1,500 mm is less than the 1,650 mm of the HN100D-II without the bar spindle
- Top spindle speed is 3,500 min-1, which limits small tools
- The heavier pallet rating is available on the NC table only
- 20 m/min rapids are well below the 41 m/min of the HN1000-S BAR in the same size

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Boring deep holes in large workpieces on a pallet-changing machining center. Niigata's example is the end plate for an injection molding machine, where the bar spindle allows deep hole work in a single chucking without setup changes.
02
The W axis is the quill of the bar spindle. Its travel is 555 mm, its diameter is listed as φ130 and its rapid rate is 5 m/min. Spindle speed is up to 3,500 min-1 and maximum torque is 1,836 N·m (1,354 lb-ft).
03
3,500 kg (7,716 lb) evenly distributed. A 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) rating is optional for the NC table only. The pallet measures 1,000 mm × 1,000 mm.
04
Travels, pallet and spindle ratings match. The HN1000-S BAR uses roller guides on X and Z and rapids at 41 m/min. The HN100D-II BAR keeps sliding guides and rapids at 20 m/min. Choose by whether traverse speed or all-sliding ways matters more for the work.
