Overview
The Anger Machining Meteor 1500 (A63) is the high-speed version of the Meteor 1500 horizontal machining center: an HSK-A63 spindle at 18,000 rpm on a frame that swings parts up to Ø1,500 mm around its A-axis. Travels are 1,600 mm (63.0 in) in X, 900 mm (35.4 in) in Y and 630 mm (24.8 in) in Z.
This is a machine for light-alloy structures. The spindle is rated 30/50 kW and 50/80 Nm (S1/S6-30%), which is power for fast milling and drilling in aluminium, not torque for big cutters in steel. Subframes, battery frames and carrier systems are the parts Anger has in mind. The workpiece is carried on a dual-drive A-axis and may weigh up to 500 kg (1,102 lb).
Axis speed is the other half of the argument. Rapids are 90/80/80 m/min with accelerations of 10/15/15 m/s² on X/Y/Z, and the X-axis is linear-driven. Chip-to-chip time is 3.8 s from a 29-tool magazine. The Meteor 1500 (A100) gives up some of this: its travels are 1,550 mm in X and 800 mm in Y and its rapids 70/60/80 m/min.
A fifth axis is an option: the table gives the number of axes as 4 (5), and Anger describes an optional B-axis for multi-side machining. Coolant through the spindle goes up to 120 bar. Repeatability is stated as ±0.003 mm as per VDI 3441 / VDI 2617, and the machine weighs 22,000 kg (48,501 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 18,000 rpm HSK-A63 spindle with 30/50 kW (S1/S6-30%)
- Rapids of 90/80/80 m/min and a linear-driven X-axis
- Swing diameter up to Ø1,500 mm on a dual-drive A-axis
- Chip-to-chip time of 3.8 s at 1,800 rpm
- Through-spindle coolant up to 120 bar for deep-hole drilling
- Repeatability of ±0.003 mm as per VDI 3441 / VDI 2617
Limitations
- Spindle torque is 50/80 Nm, a fraction of the 200/320 Nm of the Meteor 1500 (A100)
- A-axis load is 500 kg, against 800 kg on the Meteor 1500 (A100)
- Single 29-tool magazine; no larger magazine is listed in the A63 column
- The B-axis that makes it a 5-axis machine is an option

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The spindle and what follows from it. The A63 column lists an HSK-A63 spindle with 18,000 rpm, 30/50 kW and 50/80 Nm; the Meteor 1500 (A100) has an HSK-A100 spindle with 12,000 rpm, 42/65 kW and 200/320 Nm. The A63 version travels further in X and Y, moves faster and weighs 22,000 kg, while the Meteor 1500 (A100) carries 800 kg on the A-axis and weighs 25,000 kg.
02
The maximum part size is given as 1,600/Ø1,500 mm, that is 1,600 mm in length with a swing diameter of Ø1,500 mm, and the A-axis carries up to 500 kg (1,102 lb). Linear travels are 1,600 mm, 900 mm and 630 mm in X, Y and Z.
03
Both are possible. The table states the number of axes as 4 (5). The fourth axis is the dual-drive A-axis that carries the workpiece, and Anger describes the B-axis as optional, extending the swing range for multi-side machining of large components.
04
HSK-A63 tools, 29 of them in the magazine. The table allows a tool diameter of 230 mm, a tool length of 510 mm and a tool weight of 8 kg (18 lb). Chip-to-chip time is 3.8 s at 1,800 rpm.
05
The NC control row reads Siemens/Fanuc, and Anger calls the control system Digital Twin-ready. The operating voltage is 3x380 V. Machine dimensions are 4,200/5,560/3,550 mm (L/W/H).
